Ben's slow progress Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

I've introduced myself to some members now to hopefully start a project journal.

Got the Fabia on 59k miles, it's reasonable for the mileage not perfect (in my eyes anyhow).

Do excuse the poor pictures, all done on my phone and hadn't been given a proper clean till last sunday!

Expect mods for the car? For the first year I think it'll be subtle mods, so I'll probably lower it on a AP kit, either coilovers or just the 30/35mm set. Got wind deflectors on already, going to go gun metal on the chrome grill, got the LCR lip/splitter ready to go, change little things like the front and rear badges as they aren't great.

Depending on what happens job wise, maybe more, but at the moment just starting out small.

Compared to the previous car (1.4 Honda Civic) this feels good power wise so I don't feel like I have to do a lot just yet.

Any suggestions on what I could do? (on a budget though unfortunately!)

Cheers, see you around.

Welcome and a good looking standard vRS - nice low mileage too.

Did you buy private or from a dealer?

Brakes are a worthwhile investment.

Thank you, got it from a Used car dealer up in Bristol.

I don't think I'll change the brakes just yet, considering the pads and disc don't look like they were long changed. Maybe when they are due.

leather interior is nice, as the standard seats suck ;)

looking at the reg it will be the BLT engine, which is good for 150 bhp standard ;)

polybushing when you do the suspension? console bushes are a weak point....

Yeah, i'll probably get round to polybushing stuff, luckily I can do that stuff at home with our press we have.

150bhp standard? Thought they'd be like 130bhp? or are they known to put out more?

It would be nice to have a different seats etc, but can't see that happening at the moment or the near future.

Just thought I'd shove this in here, on sunday after a month of owning the car I finally gave it a good clean, so got a quick clay over (which I need to do again several times it seems) a hand polish and wax:

Not too bad for about 2/3 hours worth, was done quick because of the looming clouds around.

Also on the subject of cleaning:

I hope to treat the car to a really good clean etc with this, first time I'll be using a DA polisher so if anyone has any tips, by all means!

Still haven't got round to the LCR lip yet, hopefully if the weather isn't too bad I might try fit it tomorrow on my day off. (going to be patient and hopefully get it spot on)

yeah, the BLT engine code gave more power than the old one ;) always more than 130bhp.... I personally saw one (unmodified) give 156bhp on awesomes RR! :o

I did wonder to be honest, felt a lot more quicker than I expected when I first gave it some pedal.
