Hi. Currently driving a 2020 Kamiq. It's been a decent car, but with a growing family, it's feeling restrictive. I'm in the market for a bigger car.

I'm torn between an Octavia VRS (2024) or a more sensible SE L 1.5 TSI. My daily commute is 20 miles on A roads (3 times a week). Like to get out more at the weekends and often clock up 100 - 150 miles during that time.

My head says the 1.5 TSI will be sensible for my needs, but the VRS will make everything more enjoyable.

I want to run the car for 5-6 years (longer if I can). Will a VRS be overly excessive? Are they much more in terms of tyres, brakes and regular servicing ? Or will the 1.5 TSI be more than enough in terms of driving enjoyment and running costs ?

Thanks in advance

Hello, welcome to the forum.

It sounds as if you enjoy your driving when you're not commuting - provided you're not too heavy with the right foot, and the insurance premium isn't prohibitive, I'd suggest a manual Vrs.

Thank you. I think the VRS might just be the more enjoyable car. It still offers the practicality, but as long as the costs are not ridiculously higher than the 1.5 tsi, my heart is winning against my head 😂
