Is there any benefits of using a hardwax on top of collinite 845

Featured Replies

As it says really, only reason i ask is collie 845 is a great wax and shines real well but i found hard waxes bring out the flakes a lot more on my black car. So is it pointless using a hard wax straight after using collie 845 any help appreciated thanks

Which hard wax have you in mind? There are many differences

maybe something like blue velvet, poorboys nattys or cg petes 53. or do you have any recommendations mate

I wouldn't have thought adding a wax over an LSP which mutes flake pop would make any difference. I could be wrong; Chris will know more.

I would just go with one TBH.......Adding another will have no benefit at all

Shouldnt be a problem.... test a panel.... do a 50:50 perhaps?

I would think about Colli 845 followed by something nice looking with less durability. Poorboys or R222 are a couple of good ones at reasonable money. These aren't hard waxes but might add a little more gloss. That said Collinite on a well prepared car looks very wet and glossy.

Just remember never 845 over anything, the solvents in it will strip wax so pointless. 845 will actually remove tar spots :D

total waste of time.... 845 is a cracking product and adding anything over it is not going to add anything.

After trying literally hundreds of different products in all sorts of tests, the differences between the 'look' of products is totally down to prep and even then pretty much all in the mind of the beholder. Considering ease of use, longevity etc is far more important IMHO.

But then thats pretty much heresy in the world of detailing ;)
