Egr 4x4

Featured Replies

Evening All,

I'm new to the forum and skoda. I've driven transporters and B5 passat so for a number years but have just bought an 05 octavia 4x4. There is a fault code reading insufficient air flow egr.

Is it a big job to access and clean egr on 4x4 version?

Cheers in advance.

Some of the 1.9TDI's in the octavia suffered from the same stutter on light throttles that was common in Fabias and owners fitted a restrictor plate to the EGR valve to decrease the amount of exhaust gas re-entering the engine. I have a stutter on mine and have a plate ready to fit but haven't got around to it yet.

From what I have read the plate should fix the stutter and while it shouldn't throw the engine management light as blanking it completely would it can log an code like the one you have.

I would whip it off and see if a restrictor plate has been fitted and give it all a good clean whether there is one or not. How many miles has it done?

These guys are talking about fitting it to the 2.0TDI but it is intended for the 1.9 really. Post 7 onwards is the bit you want to read, especially post 10.

Thanks Guys

Yeah I'm going to get it cleaned out first off and see if that solves the problem. It has 140000 on it. Had thought of getting the egr sorted with remap. Is mapping a vehicle with this mileage sensible?

The guy I bought it off said he'd replace egr if the problem persists after it's cleaned. Hopefully it will be resolved soon. Thanks for the feedback!
