Stage 2 CTHE?

Featured Replies

Very interesting, is any of that relevant for the road, or are you Tracking the Fiesta.

Or is it just for bragging rights to mates?

as you know, someone can quite easily modify and improve the handling and braking on a Fabia.

You find it easy enough to pay others to modify yours.

Each to their own,

you seem to like like to modify a so so handling Yeti and up the Performance.

I'm going to ignore the subtle digs in that post and leave it there George.

I don't have time today for tit-for-tat threads and your observation of Yeti handling is incorrect.

You asked me a question and I answered it.

I have no desire to turn this into a debate about non-topic related things.

My opinion remains.

Adding an extra 20bhp on top of stage 1 doesn't make the car that much quicker or more fun.

Other things do.

The answer therefore Bob is quite clearly to go Stage 2 and lowered on coilovers, with ARB's all round, Tarox six pot brakes, 256mm rears, braided lines, polybushes, 215 width tyres on lightweight alloys

I am going to look forward to your build thread :)

Not heard of anyone that has done a Stage 1 on a CTHE ECU,

But a member here has tried to have a APR Stage 1 remap, unsuccssesfully

That was me, because of the trouble caused they promised me a free remap (apr)

last time i spoke to them they claimed to forget the promise :(

I did ask him to write it down and the american guy was like oh no i wont forget don't worry

Was this Evan or Keith at APR?

You can contact them directly on here as they are sponsors.  Maybe post up a thread for them to reply.

On it once I've googled what most of those things are.

I cant recall his first name, his surname was light i believe.

That's Evan

dabdanfings,

just watched your video.

The High oil usage is Faulty Built CAVE engines, the misfires are another issue,

plugs failing being one reason..

You have a CTHE, there should be no Oil issues, and you should have the revised Engine Management,

so that does away with the Spark Plug issue.

the 1.4STSI can be booted from cold if its UK type cold, maybe some will not want to, but the engine should still get a move on.

Your car sounds not right,  what are you running, still the TMC box?

Needs looking at by someone that understands the Supercharger, then Turbo & Super,

then Turbo, the DSG and the way it should run.

? Why not go try another vRS CTHE that goes correctly?

They should not misfire basically.

still have the tuning box, its fine after about 3 minutes.

too lazy to remove the box hahaha

That BMW must have the special 'Indicators Disabled button',  like you seem to have.

The changing up a gear is totally correct, you are only driving in town,

in 'D' it will go up the gears at around 2,400 rpm which is still on Supercharger, unless under hard acceleration.

in 'S' it would be changing at around 4,000 rpm and the Supercharger will be off, you are on Turbo.

I always indicate, you cant hear it due to my mic setup and the light doesn't always show up i think its to do with the camera framerate.

Sorry i see your indicating,

but i think you do not fully understand the DSG and the way the Super & Turbo act at different RPM's and Throttle positions and when under load or demand for acceleration.

There is really no resemblance to how the 6 speed does.

Do you have TC on or off in the likes of the driving in the video?

With TC on, if the wheels spin and lose traction, the power can be cut.

What tyres do you have on the car?

My vrs 2011 cave engine first, is on it's second engine now after a new one fitted at 16535 now just over 19000 I ran in it for about 300 miles then drove it hard after that, no oil usage now. Abit of topic but I wouldn't mine going to stage 2 now...

Mine is fitted with

Forge induction kit

Forge fmic with forge boast pipes

Bov spacer (I like it)

Middle box delete

Also got a Bluetooth obd2 box and it's running 1.4 bar on the standard map, which I googled and standard should be 1.2 bar. I believe that 1.4bar is a stage 1+

Hi Ant,

You have a nice set of base mods there for Stage 2, particularly the forge FMIC, vRSy did find the forge intake was restrictive above stock levels of tune, also the BOV may cause issues too.

The boost levels could be down to many things I guess, poor reading via OBD app, some combination of your mods causing/allowing more boost, or new mapping that came with the new engine, perhaps more like a CTHE?

the bov spacer as been on for about 1 month now and no issues which I know about. What issues do you get with it?

Also about the dsg box, I love it and had no issues with it.

TC was off that day, i can feel the traction control kick in, its a rather soft intrusion.

Thanks for the 7 speed link.

Are you saying that the 7 speed is not supposed to behave like the 6 speed?.

On that bit in the video where i show frustration at the gear change, i am feeding the pedal quite a lot, it really shouldn't be changing up under those circumstances, i wanted to use the torque.

I know of quite a few stage 1 cars with the spacer that struggled with it leaking boost

No prizes for guessing the product used....

I do find that D is acceptable for pootling but the fuzzy logic system that 'learns' you driving style can leave the changes a little unpredictable if you change driving style a lot. Whenever I want the car to do as I want it to, I flip across to M.

Nice paddle extenders btw

hmm I might take it off for abit and do some more logs on the Bluetooth box.
