I'm an habitual car changer so trying to prolong keeping this one.

It's quick, but the thoughts of 220-230 bhp appeals.

14 months old and only used 2l so reckon it's a good one.

bobnaldo,

Best of luck with your experiment .Loss of warranty then?

What's the insurance quote for doing that mod?

Stage 1 and a fair few chassis and braking mods for me was same as stock thanks to one of our insurance sponsors and a very tolerant insurer for additional mods.

I know you are down on modding this car Keith, but don't spoil others fun :)

Bob, go for it, I hear development mules can get good discount from tuners :D

I will certainly be going stage 2 on my CAVE before year end and would love to see 230bhp+

Sparkly,

Each to their own, is my actual view.

Enjoy whatever!

My memory is going, too much 99 ron sniffing.

Using it as Zippo Lighter Fuel.

Who was the Member that recently had the attempt at having the APR Stage 1 remap applied to the CTHE ECU. ?

He was running a TMC Tuning Box.

Well said and fair enough mate.

One of the things I really like about this forum is the members who push/modify their cars, I joined the baby bmw one recently as I bought my wife a new 116i M Sport. That forum is useful for buying cars but that's it, haven't been back since whereas I'm always on here reading posts.

Sparkly posts in particular have helped me improve my car with the RARB and new bulbs, I think it would be good to add to that for other members.

I know I'll be blowing the engine/gearbox warranty, but I own it outright and it's just my toy/commute car as we have the 1 series for the family. I also don't think insurance will be an issue as it's only about £250 a year at the moment.

My thoughts came from a old post of VRSY's when discussing milltek's, his view on the best way of improving sound without adding droning noise was to install a sports cat downpipe for which you need stage 2 and that's what got me thinking, should I be the first to do that? If it's looking too much of a long shot, I'll stick with just sorting the exhaust.

I don't think there is any software available to do stage 2 on a CTHE even if you wanted to? I could be wrong though! I'm not sure if tuners have developed the ability to access and modify a CTHE ECU yet?

The general F20/F21 forum on BabyBMW is indeed pretty lifeless and dull. It's the M135i subsection where all the action is! ;-)

Caution, personal opinion follows...

The mk2 Fabia VRS does need much more power.  Stage 1 is fine, unless you are going to be really using the car hard.

It really, really needs the handling sorted and a brake upgrade too.

That makes it a much better car and more fun to drive.

Going a bit quicker in a straight line is not a huge buzz when it's a flappy paddle car, but making it actually capable of cornering well adds a huge grin factor.

If you just want the noise, add the exhaust. :)

You heard it here first.

More power for Mk2's officially endorsed by Bossfox!

I actually meant "doesn't need much more power".

Just sort out the handling!

The fantasy green fabia in his mk1 thread he's bought 2 now! aga4a6uv.jpg

Ahh I see, not too good with acronyms.

My point was that it's a front wheel drive flappy paddle Fabia.

It doesn't need huge power, stage 1 is probably enough unless you have either got a thing for track days or like to outboast your mates.

Sorting out the handling and brakes will make it far more fun to drive on a typical road.  Unless you just like going in straight lines.

If you want silly power, get something that doesn't only send it's power to the front wheels.

disclaimer: IMO. :)

And Yeti VRS and Skyline.  No big power FWD cars here. ;)

Is that Mountune Upgrade on the Fiesta ST3 yet to just give it a bit more go to the front wheels

taking the 180 ps to 215 ps.?

Just so that you can give it more once you get around the corner and want to get to the next one faster.

Put simply the Fiesta chassis is way better than the Fabia one so it can carry noticably more cornering speed and handle more power.

But the Mountune is like an official warranty backed stage 1.

As I suggested above, it doesn't need any more.  stage 1, a bit over 200bhp with good handling.  For a road car = great fun.

Also for info the ST has an overboost function for 15 seconds.

So the stock 180 makes 195(ish).

The Mountune adds about 20 to those figures, it doesn't take it from 180 to 215.
