brake pad sensors

Featured Replies

Hi all, brake pad warning has come up on the dash and after removing the wheel there seems to be no sensor on the pads, would they put a sensor on the rear drum brakes and not the front discs?  Also there seems to be lots of shims/metal plates around the pads(ferodo 4307) ,would these come with the new pads? 57 plate fabia3 hatch(new shape).  Any recommendations for new pads and discs?

I thought only front ones get sensors.

Not sure about the Fabia 2, but on the older cars you often only got a wear sensor on the LHF inside pad.

Yes, ken ! Was like that on my '57 Fabia I changed in Feb this year

I believe that the shims (anti-squeal shims) are bought separately.

what ^^^^  ! sensors are on the near side front!

A bit late but has light gone out, now? Should go out when worn pads replaced. If it's still on, may indicate another problem - sure this forum will help, it's great for that!

The plastic connector has gone on mine. I changed the pads and disks today but had to leave the connector. The light is on the dash but was thinking about running with this on in the short term. Would this effect anything Ie put the car in slow mode etc etc

If you want to repair this "properly", you can get the connector P/N off the connector and order a new.

As far as I remember, my car has no sensor! I think I had to cut off the wiring on the replacement pads as they came with or without and I got with, to be safe. I got my pads and discs from either Euro car parts or car parts for less, can't quite remember as I always cross reference their respective prices and get the lower quotes for branded parts.

Perhaps disconnecting the battery for a short while will reset the dash warning though.

Or disable that function if you are in the habit of checking the car over!  I don't think removing the battery will work, that system will reset as soon as the pads have been replaced, or as in this case, the wiring repaired.
