Can someone check their passenger door handle please

Featured Replies

The only way of opening the front passenger handle is to pull it in a straight line outwards. All the others I can pull at a slight angle and they open no problem. Everyone who's got in the car so far has had problems with it.

Is anyone else's like this or just mine? Waiting for a call back from the dealer about another issue so I'm guess this will probably be another thing to add to the list.

That sounds wrong. I've never been in a Octy 3, but I've never experienced any VAG car where the pull on any door handle had to be exactly normal to the body.

Had the same problem with mine - car was in getting a sensor replace and I highlighted the issue.

They fixed it mentioning removing it and greasing it.  Not sure how but it works now.

Thought it must be something wrong as all the other handles are fine. I'll add it to the growing list of problems for them to sort.

I too had this problem.

I fixed it myself by spraying some silicone onto a baby bud, pulling the handle out to its full extent, and then wiping the cotton bud all over the rear part of the door handle where it slides into the interior of the locking mechanism. This lubricated it, and no problems since then.

Odd that several people have had the same issue. Faulty batch of door handles?

Mine suffers with this. Wife accuses me of locking her out. I'll take a look at the weekend.

I too was spurred on to trying to fix this fault by the lady who occupies the passenger seat. She was starting to give me filthy looks every time the door wouldn't open.

Haha yes I've had the same thing! I thought it was me not hitting the unlock button inside the car first of all until I opened the passenger door from the outside myself today and realised it was the handle that was the problem.

I had the same on mine, couple of drops of 3in1 on it and it's been perfect since.

I too had this problem and the same result as some here.

Only noticed when swmbo's moaning got bad enough to notice. ;)

Told the dealer when I had the car in for a rattle. They couldn't find the problem but managed to fix it.

Mine does it too. I'll try the lub fix thanks :)

Somebody should make a sticky where all the issues are listed.

Another solution... make her indoors sit in the back!

That would then mean she would expect me to wear a peak hat and open the door for her as well [emoji16]

Mine has this too, I'll try a bit of lube on the weekend ... then fix the door.

Passenger door on mine did it too when new. Hosed it down with WD-40 and worked it back and forwards a few times and been sweet ever since.

Same on mine.

3in1...job done...    Now the wife will have to give me a filthy look over something else ! :D

same here, my handle wont open correctly either...will give it a spray of wd-40 this weekend :)

Sounds like the sticky door handle is a case of "designed by men for men", to stop the creaking and groaning you often get from the front passenger seat when its occupied by SWMBO, cos if she can't get in at all that's surely a result! I'll be leaving mine without the lube!
