Electronic components

Featured Replies

Has anyone got any suggestions on where to get a discontinued electronic component from? I'm after a TDA8571J. It was made by Philips and then another company. I've spotted a couple on eBay but was wondering if anyone had any other suggestions?

Last time I needed something like that I tried the likes of RS Components and Maplins etc. but finally managed to get one from a place called Bardwells in Sheffield - little local electronic components shop - might be worth a try?

4Star in the states are handy for that sort of thing.

Have you run a search for alternative replacements??

Quite often a near identical part - differing only slightly in output or gain - is available with a different part number; and other manufacturers may make an IDENTICAL component, but use their own part numbering system for it.

I've tried bardwells but they have sold out :(. I don't know much about electronics and I'm following a how2 guide online. Its an upgrade to an existing part, just a better output. Looks like it will be an eBay jobbie.

Thanks DGW. Exactly!!

chris- bit of info - I don'tknowif you have a PCB ready Made. if so ignore rest. If not, on the  little diode site data sheet ,there's a PCB layout. Two ways of getting layout on to PCB ready for etching.

1)  copy the PCB layout from the site and print onto transfer paper ( Maplins CODE N43KT).

2) Download a program like  Express PCB and design your own ,from the layout in the datasheet.

For a beginner I'd recomend downloading the layout on the data sheet and printing ( making sure it's same size as that on data sheet) on to the transfer paper, using a LAZER PRINTER. I've seen several sites saying that it's possible to use any paperwith a laser printer and iron on the laser ink to protect the copper during etching. But the layout is that designed for UV design, so it might be that the layout might have to be inverted. Any one gotany thoughts on that problem .
