Electronic upgrades wanted...

Featured Replies

From reading a few posts on here, I realise its possible to update the firmware on the Columbus system so one can put in full post codes, and also update the maps. (Photo attached of Columbus type).

Ive no idea on S/W or F/W versions, as I am reluctant to remove anything just yet. (Only had the car a couple weeks).

Someone with more knowledge/experience is welcome.

Also, I'd like to have the DRLs switched on, but no option in menus to do this myself.

Can anyone help?

Its for my 2009 FL Octavia 2.0 PD L&K.

Thanks in advance,
Andy

Short answer is 'yes' to both questions.

To get the right / latest firmware you'll need to know the part number.

You could go to 3810 without issue. IIRC that has 7 digit postcodes.

You'll need a map disc and will have to put your music back on (as you've only had it a few days I doubt you have much on there).

If you are near Hereford I can sort the DRL's for you.

PM me about the firmware. I have discs.

DRLs aren't in the menu. To switch on, switch on ignition and, within 3 seconds, pull the indicator stalk towards you and up and hold it there. If you hear a 'bong', you've done it. If not, try again. To switch off, do the same, but hold the stalk down.

Unfortunately that's not worked on mine... :( have tried it a few times.

Daylight driving lights*

In some countries, the national legislation requires that the vehicles are

equipped with the function daylight driving lights.

Switching on daylight driving lights

– Switch on the ignition without turning the light switch out of the position 0.

Deactivate function daylight driving lights

– Pull the turn signal light lever towards the steering wheel up to 3

seconds after switching on the ignition and at the same time, slide it to

the bottom and hold it in this position for at least 3 seconds.

Activate function daylight driving lights

– Pull the turn signal light lever towards the steering wheel up to 3

seconds after switching on the ignition and at the same time, slide it to

the top and hold it in this position for at least 3 seconds.

When the daylight driving lights are switched on, the side lights and the low beam come on together.

On vehicles which are fitted with bulbs for daylight driving lights* in the fog lights,

the parking lights do not come on when activating the function daylight driving lights

9).

When the daylight driving lights are switched on, the illumination of the instrument

cluster is switched off, however, it is switched on in the position when it is dark

and the low beam shines with full brightness (100 % of the performance).

On vehicles fitted with an information display*, you can activate or deactivate in the

menu the function daylight driving lights:

Sorry this is still not working... I have had a friend try too... No luck :(

I have the extra bulb in each fog light and they just wont come on... :(

They physically look ok. (Filaments look in tact) They look brand new tbh)

I will work out how to get the bulbs out and test them.

There's been discussion on here before about Skoda actually fitting headlights with bulbs but not the wiring for DRL's.

I'll have a go at removing the fog lights and seeing if there's any wiring in behind the DRL bulbs... I'll look through the Haines manual. Does seem a bit daft to fit light sockets, bulbs etc and not a wiring loom. With my last car, I found it to be the other way round... Wiring was there for front fogs, including the relay, but no lights themselves... Meant for an easy retrofit. :)
