detailing. polishing cleaning

Featured Replies

Dont think this is right place but I kinda live in fabia or for sales section so thought id put is here :)

Right so many people have massive cleaning regimes for their cars and get them looking spot on

I like to keep my clean and wash it most weeks. But with a brush and bucket only. Every few months it has a quick polishbut tthat's it

anyways in the next few weeks once its running spot on if like to get it looking spotless. Where do I start with all these posh and catchy cleaning products?

Cheers mate

Ps. Don't tell anyone on there you wash it with a brush, or they might find the nearest one and come hit you with it [emoji106] cardinal sin number 1

Wash mit x2

Three buckets (two and a hose or watering can)

Good quality car shampoo

Microfibre cloths

Speed detailer (to stop water smearing)

Job done.

For polish, it's a personal thing but auto glym do some nice stuff and dodo are a big favourite nowadays.

second only to a sponge though isn't it? Or does the brush actually come out on top?

well I use a brush instead of a sponge/microfiber on the principle that any grit and dirtt that gets caught on the head of the brush will simply slip between the bristles instead of being sandwiched between the spong and the paintwork.. .. but on abbrush dirt will be more easily trapped between bristles and lightly scratch the pain work

you cant win!!

Anyways ordered snow foam lance and dug out the power washer today. If o get my turbo sorted out next sat I may give my car a good bit of ocd detailing on outside on sunda. If turbo goes bot to plan I'll just kick **** out of the bloody thing

I have so much to offer, but so little time :D

Suffice to say a good look around the styling forum, and detailing world, should keep you busy!

Well from quick read. Anything to do with cleaning cars. Microfiber = good. Anything else = bad

my kit so far include a pressure washer. Autoglym car wash shampoo. (Snowfoam lance on way although im not sure which snow foam to buy yet. As I dont want to spend loads)

I've got autoglym high resolution polish and also some autoglym ultra deep shine. Autoglym hd wax. Autosol for the exhaust. And half a million microfibers haha

I'll do some reading around and then get some kit together in the next month or so.

Tut tut using a brush!

You need a wash mitt and a couple of buckets! I use megs good class shampoo. I pressure wash first and then usually a couple of dips into the rinse bucket for each panel and pressure wash as I go along.

I've got some collinite wax on at the moment but going to give it a couple of coats of fk1000 soon as I prefer it. I've got the carbon collective stuff on the wheels makes them effort less to clean!

I usr armor shield on wheels as it makes hell of a difference. But dosnt last long :(

Wheres best to buy either collinite wax or fk1000?

Ahhh just been on ebay. Think ill get done collinite ordered soon. Prefer liquid type products than wax

Right think im getting bit of knowledge together now.

just so I'm not making silly mistake is the order

snow foam

Rince

shampoo

rince.

Dry with microfiber

Polsih wirh my machine polisher (using autoglym super high resin polish)

Wipe off

clay

then use collinite 855 to give finial finish and seal?

The paint is ok. Just allot of shallow dust scratches from washing with a brush (yeh I know... the shame!

If it helps my fabia is black lol

Sounds OK but you definitely need to clay between the shampoo and rinse stage, especially as this is when the car will be wet & lubricated so you need less effort to clay. :)   Definitely a pre-polish part of the process as you don't want to be machine polishing over tar spots and similar.

Black is my favourite colour to polish, and the first time you wash/polish properly is always the best.
