Has anyone seen the new Octavia RS? What would you prefer the new one or the old RS and why?

Deffinately want the new Vrs estate in blue ...............but it has GOT to be a diesel

I'll stick with my old one thanks.

the new one just looks too... well... 'nancy-boy' is the only way I can describe it. It's just not hard enough. And what's the deal with separate fog-lights? Talk about a retrograde step. Nice low lights with expensive glass to get smashed a-la-Furby.

And the back end just looks like the Sport bodykit.

I agree, the new rs looks like an old mans car whos having a midlife crisis.

The old one looks alot more hardcore.

Not wanting to offend anyone, but the "old" VRS isn't really all that different from the other models to look at either.

It has a bit sportier front and rear bumpers , a small spoiler and different alloys.

That's not a huge transformation from the standard car

I guess its down to personal opinion.

If you look at a standard octavia mk1 next to a vrs octavia mk1, then look at a standard octavia mk2, next to the new vrs then its easily noticible that the new vrs looks soft. I think the old vrs looks miles better than the standard one. The front spoiler changes the entire appearance of the car, whereas the new vrs looks like its had a few extras stuck on from the accessory catalogue.

The old vrs had a hint of hardcore rally styling. The new one looks like a retirement car to take to Skegness on a rainy day. Sorry but it fails to get my heart racing solely based on styling.

Not a fan of the New Octy, from what i've seen of the New RS i would'nt trade mine for it..................Look forward to 'Spanking' a few though .

I think the old Octavia looked good even without the RS bodykit, certainly better than the new looks. The RS kit just made it look even better and lower.

I'd have to say the old VRS. It has a very subtle "old Skool" look, it kinda gives me the same feelings as the old VW Corrado did (BTW to me this is a good thing, and on another note why not put a stonking 2.7l V6 in the vRS like they used to in the Corrado's rather than this pansy 2.0 T). Where as the new one looks pug, I mean look at the big bit of black plastic that is being used for the bumper grill. :thumbdwn:

True, but the standard car looked a lot harder than the Octy II does in any form.

And the differences on the old one, IMHO, made a lot more difference than you realise at first glance... putting two side by side makes it very obvious to me.

Old Octavia vRS looks real beasty.

New one...looks alright...very family-car looking, but I'm sure with time, like Goochie says, it will grow on everyone.

new one is quite soft looking nothing sticks out - it does not look sporty

Old VRS looks the nuts. New one looks plain in comparison. I do prefer the interior of the new one tho.

I'll give it six months personally before they are just about everywhere and everyone wants one on here.

OK maybe a slight exageration but when a new model is launched the stalwart fans of the old one will allways pick fault. Golf owners are a good example. MK1 owners hated the MK2, MK2 Owners hated the MK3 etc. But all of them sold very well in thier own right and now have many fans. People dont like change and in the case of the New Octavia vRS something that will devalue thier pride and joy.

As for why they didnt stick a Corrada (2.9) VR6 engine in as as mentioned, the 2.0T has more power std than the 2.9 and will meet modern emission standards. Also being an FSi its prett god n fuel for the power it produces.

Bit disappointed at the moment.Prefer the look of the estate which is rather nice.

I just sincerely hope they have addressed the most common complaints.

No white carpet or seats for the love of God! Full leather would be sensible but at the very least,dark inserts.

Agreed. As for the Golf thing though, everyone knows the only good "drivers" Golfs were the Mk1 and Mk2 though
