Looking for a grease monkey!

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

My mechanic friend has let me down with the fitting of my coilovers...

I have a moderate collection of tools and would like to attempt the work myself... Problem being I wouldn't know where to start. Has anyone local to Grantham done this before?

Regards

Tom

More newark end me.

It's straight forward enough aslong as you have the torx socket for the bolt on the hub that holds the bottom of the strut.

It can be done in a few hours ;)

Fitting collies is pretty trivial if you have the tools. 2 person job though just in case you drop the original suspension out and find you need new top mounts and bearings, unless you have them already and then it's easy. I'm in Sheffield, else I would have offered.

Torx socket eh! Have some small ones. Guess this is a beefy one though.

Newark is just down the road... Only 10 mile. So you offering to help??

Have bought new top mounts and bearings. I didn't think it was particularly hard job... But don't want to get it wrong!

I'm in ollerton.,

It's m12/m14 I think. I don't mind lending a hand

?? They are fitted. Just want to adjust height and preload.

I can do them dude but to be absolutely bang on they need corner weighting

Ok... What does that involve?

They weight each specific corner and set up on weighing pads.

No two corners of a car weigh the same so that sets it up exact.

I've never bother tbh honest though, wind mine down so there level at each corner :D

I see. My Apex kit is still giving me a headache with noisy clonking at low speeds. Cant seem to fix it.

Just at low speed?

If your passing at all then call in ;)

Say mate, I am planning to fit new suspension to my Fabia in the near Future, I live Southwell, know Ollerton well, and would be willing to pay you for a day helping me out fitting them when the time is right, I am planning on New Top Mounts inc bearings all round, new Powerlfex Poly Busher's  all round and then the Bilstein B12 Pro-Kit for the springs and dampers, was planning on buying the Busher's next Payday and putting so much away for the dampers, then the top mounts the month after and saving a little more, then buying the dampers last on my 3rd payday from now which is just over a couple months away.

Have added you as a friend on here if you would be willing to lend a hand when the time comes, am hoping maybe you could help me out.

...listened really hard today... It's at higher speeds too.

Should be about somewhere pal. I'll pm you my number
