Retrofitted MFSW - buttons, horn and lights not working

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I've just retrofitted my 2006 Octavia 2 (1.9 PD, Elegance) with a MFSW taken from a 2014 Fabia

Here it is... post-110854-0-99074000-1403204050_thumb.jpg (the picture gets rotated as soon as I upload it, dunno why)

While it looks awesome, unfortunately the buttons are not functioning (no light as well), the horn does not work, and I am not quite sure if the airbag works, although there is no warning light for it.

Could you help me with an advise if you have experience with such steering wheel?

Can I make it work?

I have a factory fitted MaxiDOT but my old wheel was not MFSW. Also, I have already retrofitted a Bolero for which I had to change my CAN BUS with a newer one.

I hope this helps :)

Thanks in advance!

Did you change the steering wheel controller and wiring harness over?

Nope, I am not aware of the exact controller that I should get.

What about the wires? The cable plug fitted perfectly. Should I make any changes to it?

MFSW will need a highline controller and a different loom, connectors will be the same, just more cables to the slipring.

also.. i didn't think you could retrofit that new a wheel? :/

Get a VCDS reading to find out what type of controller you have , A search on here will tell you if it is correct for a MFSW.

My FL Octy vRS just needed an updated controller along with an addtional cable for airbag & buttons. ( this came complete when i bought the wheel)

Once the new wheel has been fitted you will need VCDS to change settings to activate the buttons.

Do a search around on MFSW, as GIZMO68 coded mine & you should find some useful info.

It can be done but I think you need to swap the buttons too as the wheel isn't recognised on pre-fl

Digging up an old post, but I wondered if you ever got the buttons AND lights working @siromaha?

I did the swap today on my preFL mk2 Octavia, using FL Maxidot cluster, steering wheel control module 1K0 953 549 CD, mk3 vRS wheel with buttons from a 2016 Yeti, part 5E0 919 719 L.  @Eddie-NL did the coding but hasn't come across this part number before.  Everything works, except the button illumination.

If anyone has any suggestions I'd be happy to hear about them! Cheers

Re-digging this up again ;)

I have installed a MFSW, new loom with cables for this and activated MFSW functions in OBDeleven.

However I'm getting no response from any of the buttons, nor the horn nor the headlights.

Any thoughts?
