My car's NZ clone - bit of a sorry sight!

Buy it and restore it! You know you want to ;)

Project!

I don't have the cash or the space. Note that even in this state it has a bid of $2600 - about 1300 quid!

Cars hold their value for longer here. :D

There should be an RSPCA for cars. That's seriously cruel treatment - owner needs a slap.

That's what Bossfox did for a couple of Fabias. Fixed them up real good and moved them on to good homes

No one asked about the warning light on the Speedo. That should bring the price down a bit. Fact it has belts and clutch done is a big positive tho. The marks on the bodywork are all superficial. Buy it, replace bumpers and clean interior, reset the dash warning light, then sell for a profit.

That is a propper octy, made to be abused, and still works and serves you

It reminds me of when Herbie got all bashed up and looked very sad.

Car abuse, not good.

From the ad -

Drives well for the age and milage but has a few scuffs dings and scratches around the body and bumpers and could do with a good clean.

Due to the age and milage of this car we can make no accurate mechanical representation of the vehicle and MAY require unplanned repairs and maintenance that we are unaware of apon sale.

I dont doubt it drives alright, but christ it looks like it was driven around a quarry since the day it was bought!

the poor feckin motor :(

I like how they covered themselves along the lines of the loong list of things that might go arseways!

Are you not allowed to fit euro sized number plates over there? Or are the shorter ones all thats allowed

The short ones are standard. US size apparently. You can get Euro plates but they're only legal from the government. They cost $400 to get your plate remade or $900 for a custom plate with whatever you want on it.

$150 fine for using third party plates.

Oh and they pay $37 for the plates to be made!

What the exchange rate like on that?

Shame skoda couldnt make a bumper that fits the smaller plates. Those huge gaps would bug me lol

Sorry should have said - about 2-1, so $400=GBP200

What's worse is the Japanese imports which have a gap slightly narrower than NZ plates, so people just bend the edges to get them in. Looks awful.

for a pair of Plates that actually fit????

THink i would prefer the gaps than bent plates... Id Probably do a wide mouth bumper and side mount the plate...

At the front I painted the surround black to get rid of the half red/half black effect:

I don't mind the rear one - looks okay to me.

I used to have some germanplates.com Euro plates on but the police started issuing fines for them, so I took them off again.

Those German ones looked well nice Rob, better than the short ones!

LOL 'has a few scuffs dings and scratches'

Like to know what the heck has happened to/been sitting on the seats!

Yep but technically illegal despite being reflective, legible and correct.

No point risking getting fined.

I see the car sold for $3305 - about 1500 quid. Cheap for over here, that age has been fetching 8-10k. There's a 1.8t non-vRS on there for $7k

I was thinking how it would have been funny to turn up for a test drive of that red one in my car.

Though I wouldn't fancy sitting on those brown seats!

Id say the current owner would've been sick when you got out of yours Rob...

And then when you pulled some bin liners out of the boot to sit on in his bucket :D

1500 quid, and anyone with a bit of pride in it will spend that again trying to straighten it up a bit...

before they even get as far as looking on here for project threads!!
