1.6 afh oil leak

Featured Replies

Done around 400 miles with the new engine in now however, last night driving home the oil light flashed on a few times, being close to home i carried on parked up at home and left it. This morning i checked the oil level and it was very low, looked under the car and there is a heavy oil leak coming out of where the gearbox joins the bell housing. Its engine oil, so would i be right in thinking its the crank seal leaking? Being an Avy bottom end i used an Aee crank seal.

Cheers

Did you use sealant on the crank seal flange or did you slap it on there dry?

To be honest i can't remember. Looking on etka there is a gasket before the housing with the seal in it, i don't remember using a gasket or seeing one when taking it off the Aee engine.

Changed the rear crank seal put everything back together and there is still a big leak there! Engine oil dripping between gearbox and engine.

I took the old seal off which was split, cleaned all the mating surfaces and then put the new one on, using a new gasket and sealant on mating surfaces.

Why would it still be leaking? Or could it be coming from somewhere else?
