CCTV suggestions

Featured Replies

So recently whilst parked at home my mirrors have been smashed as have 2 windscreens and I've been keyed this has all happened to both cars and now I've decided it's time for some good CCTV to keep a watch on my drive I'm on a budget so suggestions please!

I bought my system from Maplins. The system came with 4 cameras (2 of which were pan and tilt),500gb hard drive all for around £350. After about a year I replaced the pan and tilt - image quality was excellent just not as good as the other cameras at night. I've added a fifth camera. The image quality impressed the police when I showed them images of local youths throwing stones at my Windows.

Wouldn't an IP system be cheaper rather than using a "central CCTV box"

Too late been and got the Swann ones after work today!

Image quality is very important.

There are 4 key image standards for CCTV cameras....

1.     Monitor

2.     Detect

3.     Recognition

4.     Identification

These standards are part of the Rotakin standard and were developed by the Home Office Scientific Development Branch as a means of auditing the efficiency of a CCTV system.

The MINIMUM requirement of a CCTV camera should be 450TVL (Television lines)

The camera resolutions that are available are CIF, D1, 450TVL, 600TVL, 800TVL, 960H, 720p and after that 1080p.
