Bolero Bluetooth...

Featured Replies

Hi all, i have a 2009 octavia vrs with the bolero unit installed. My unit says ' BT Audio ' but is greyed out. From what i gather this is because there is no bluetooth module as it was an uograde? My question is i would like to add it in but am a bit unsure what i need. I have seen the kufatec fiscon units but really want to go the genuine route. Unless you advise otherwise. Can anyone shed some light on this.

Thanks

Have a look under the driver's seat for a module and/or a connector. Might be under a plastic cover.

If it's not there you'll need a module, wiring loom with pass through quadlock and a mic and cable.

All of this comes in a kit from CarSystems.pl or eBay or occasionally on here. Just email Car Systems your car details & headunit & phone and they'll recommend you a module & loom kit.

mine has the unit, but Bluetooth audio is still greyed out, I think because the Bluetooth unit doesn't support playing music over it, just does telephone stuff

Thanks for your input guys. I have checked under the seat and have nothing. So i guess i need the unit, loom and microphone. Will the work straight off or will it need coding?

Thanks

Will probably need coding.

Might work straight off (it's not unheard of), but always best to get it coded with VCDS to get maximum out of it.

Ok so just a little update. I have purchased the OEM blutooth kit off ebay for  my octavia. The kit includes the Module, Wiring, Microphone and the foam mounting for under the passenger seat. I got it for £135 which i this is good because the rest are more expensive. Part number for the module is 5K0 035 730 D.  I will probably get round to fitting this at the weekend. Maybe you have some tips for me? Also the unit may need coding but dont have VCDS as the above post says. Maybe some one local could help me if/when its needed?

Thanks

Gary

There's lots about fitting on here; it's fairly straight forward.

Coding doesn't take long. Where in the country are you?

I'm up in the north east (Darlington)

Ok, so a little update for you all. I fitted this today. Didnt really take long at all. I routed the mic from the interior light, down the A pillar and behind the glovebox to the head unit. I then routed the main harness from the head unit behind the glovebox, behind the carpet next to the kick trim and then up the existing hole under the passenger seat into the control unit. Everything came apart with ease and also went back together with ease. Had a few helpful tips from existing post of briskoda to help speed up the process of removing things as i am new to this vehicle. I only came across one issue and believe it or not was just putting the head unit back in. There was just no space behind the unit for the extra harness and its connector block. I feel like i have really squashed it in there. There was no where else for it to go, not even a space to push it down when pushing the unit in. Anyway as some people have said, it worked straight off. Paired my phone to it and made a call straight away. Maybe it needs coding still as my phonebook just shows up pretty corrupt. Also noticed that the BT Audio is not highlighted aswell, Is that the bluetooth streaming? Should that work? Look forward to hearing your responses.

Thanks

Good work.  The quadlock tightness is a known issue and it is actually best to locate it to the left of the cage.  If you take out the top box its much easier.

That module should support streaming, my old one with the same part number did.  I suspect that and your phone book will be resolved with coding, certainly one of the coding issues is to list people alphabetically by their first name (not last name) which you will probably find is the reason for your odd looking phone book?

Why didnt i think of that lol? Stupid me. I gathered that the left was better as thats where i got it to go in. As far as my contacts goes, i have them all in the order like you said, Just it seems the names dont show correctly, i.e some show and some are blank but with the numbers. Maybe once i get this coded like you say it may fix this?

Thanks

Gary

I'm not sure to be honest.  I know others have had problems with phonebook sync on the Bolero, but hopefully yes.

I've known people have issues with Bolero's corrupting address books and not communicating correctly with Maxidot.

Appears to be either a firmware issue with the Bolero or, more likely, an incompatibility between the BT module & the Bolero resolved by changing the BT module.

It may be possible to have the address book listed alphabetically by first name, but not always possible. I can't get mine to do it despite it being shown as an option.

I use this app on my SGNote III:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.android_rsap.irmctest

(That's the trial version. All works ok to make sure that it does what you expect, it just adds a random digit to the number so you can't dial)

IIRC the full version was a couple of quid. Once installed the phonebook issues I had (mis-sorted, contacts without numbers etc) all vanished :)

Thanks for that, i tried this with no luck at all, still phonebook just shows blank but with names and muddled numbers when i click one. Another question i have is, should i be seeing something through my maxidot... I have nothing on there to do with the phone. Should this be to do with getting it coded? Hopefully once coded my phonebook may sort itself out somewhat.

Thanks

Gary

Is it a FL?

Not all modules interact with the Maxidot on the pre-FL.

What BT module part number do you have?

Hi, Yes it is a facelift, 2009 (59). The kit i bought came with module 5K0 035 730 D.

Thanks

Gary

Should work with Maxidot then.

Might need the coding looked at with VCDS. Have you had it coded in ?

If not coded to the CAN gateway, it wont show in maxidot so that should be your answer to that one.

Ok guys, took the car to a local garage today that specialises it the VAG Group. Charged me £35 to code the bluetooth and check the car for faults. Picked the car up after work, maxidot now works great. Showing all my contacts correclty and allowing me to control through the stalk. Unfortunately the bolero unit still doesnt show my contacts correctly. Although this is no biggie to me as i find it easier to just scroll through the maxidot display. Still i will continue to try figure out what is going on with the phonebook. Here are some pics....

Very pleased with the retrofit of the bluetooth.

Thanks

Nice one. That bolero looks odd though. Have you tried the options in the telephone menu under the setup button to reset things?

Big progress. Well done.

According to some dealers it can be fixed with a firmware update.

The problem is finding a dealer who knows that one exists and will do it for you.

PS: I'd have done it for a beer!

What looks strange? Yes i have reset everything and tried but still no luck.

Thanks, i think herefordshire would cost more in fuel :p

I meant the contact display which looks corrupt in some way - this is what I have read about I think. Given the resets don't help, I think the firmware is worth investigating, but my own knowledge doesnt extend beyond Columbus units sorry.
