One frustrating thing about the PID...

Featured Replies

...is why doesn't the car info > gauges option offer a clock?  The rev counter is useful, I guess, but the inside / outside temperature - pointless having that on a gauge!  Why not an analogue clock, would be especially useful as the clock under the speedo is so darn small!

Do you think they might add this option, do Garmin ever bring out upgrades and feature enhancements like this, or are we stuck with the functionality as it is?

Moan over!

I've thought the same.
I don't see why Garmin couldn't release updates like you say, and perhaps add features such as that! Completely agreed. :-)

Is that a Garmin/Navigon thing or is it Skoda though?

Agree more options would be good.

I would say that Garmin would be doing the software so it would be down to them to implement, however VAG might have mandated to them what they wanted the PID to do! So Garmin might not be able to implement changes without VAG say so?

I agree, a clock would be ok, but also the outside temp is fine, but why -50 to +50? -10 to +30 is plenty.

urm......clock is fixed at the top right hand side.........though its tiny!

it basically reads a lot from the ODBC2 sensor which has a load of info in it, there is plenty more it could show.

Just looking at the file structure too see if some stuff is disabled. Just found this, which is off topic, but I wonder what upping it will do

<UnitMpg>
      <!-- the minimal and maximal value of consumption in mpg * 10 which must be capped -->
      <Min>43</Min>
      <Max>2000</Max>
      <!-- value (mpg * 10) from which we display the consumption value integer wise (decimals will be round) -->
      <DisplayIntegerWiseFrom>1000</DisplayIntegerWiseFrom>
    </UnitMpg>

I did wonder why the mpg never goes over 200mpg

OK, so I have this;<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<Settings>
    <!-- tube mapping:                                             -->
    <!-- RPM                            1                                    -->
    <!-- Coolant                    2                                    -->
    <!-- Oil temperature    3                                 -->
    <!-- gear shift                4                                 -->
    <!-- outside temp            5                                 -->
    <!-- -->
    <!-- -->
    <!-- -->
    <TubeLeft>1</TubeLeft>
    <TubeRight>2</TubeRight>
    <TubeInvalidSpeed>-0.09</TubeInvalidSpeed>
    <TemperatureUnit>0</TemperatureUnit>
</Settings>

which suggests these are the choices, but I cant pick 4 - gear shift??

Anyone know how to stop the PID directing you into a ferry terminal as the quickest route.

SWMBO is having major issues at the moment.

To go the route you need ,enter a way point.

She has already, it keep telling her that she needs to enter the ferry terminal as it thinks its quicker to get a ferry! :)

I'm finding it quite amusing, she on the other hand isn't so much....

What about forbid any tolls/toll roads there's a setting for that and ferries charge a toll. When I was on holiday last year we had an option to take the ferry or take the road around, it always took us around after I input the details.

Thanks for that, this is what I asked her to look for, all sat-navs have that option.

Will see when she gets back in touch how she's done.
