Head Unit question...

Featured Replies

Upgradeing my sound system. Wondering if anyone has any tips in getting the origional head unit out. Obviously it needs the special keys as all head units do, but stoping short of going to a Skoda dealer, has anyone got a "personal" way of removing the unit with out de-facing it?

Cheers.

Brilliant.......would never have thought of feeler guages. :)

Or snap a hacksaw blade in half and tape the teeth if stuck

I used hack saw blade in half

The keys got it out fine, wouldn't get em from Halfords though, sold me the wrong type! Heard of people using pieces of old credit card cut into strips instead

Most replacement head units have  the same keys that are needed to remove the original (most use the flat style pins instead of the dual prong type now)

I just got a halfords lad to remove mine after I said "you don't sell the right keys", but that was for my pioneer HU.  Infact I did that twice ;-)
