Skoda Superb 2010/10 1.8TSI Elegance Twin-Door Hatch. FSSH 39k Immaculate

Featured Replies

So I have the crazy idea that I might quite like a VW T5 or a Vito van, which would sadly necessitate the sale of my lovely Superb…………….

2010/10 Skoda Superb 1.8 TSI Elegance in Metallic Black with contrasting Cream Leather Upholstery including cream carpets, headlining etc.  6 speed manual gearbox.

I chose the petrol / manual combination due to my moderate annual mileage, so not really any significant fuel saving (averages 34mpg in mixed driving or up to 40mpg on a long run).  No DPF concerns, no cam-belt change (has chain driven cam), no DSG worries (heard lots of horror stories and costly repairs) and it’s a nice smooth and quiet engine too.  (Great insurance too; I am 37 with full no claims and no points or accidents and it was under £200 fully comp with business use and protected NCD).

Surprisingly the cream interior is extremely easy to keep clean and resits marks and stains very well.   I have two young children and the car still looks immaculate inside and out.  I do regularly clean the car inside and out by hand.  Most marks just hoover off the carpet, or vanish with a spot of interior cleaner.  I use car-seat protectors underneath the children’s car seats and I never let them eat in the car.   I find the interior colour is great in summer as the leather doesn’t get hot like black leather would.  It also really lifts the light level in winter and stops the car feeling like a big black hole.

It has covered just 39,000 miles, but still in daily use so will rise at around 200 miles a week or thereabouts.  1 previous owner to myself (I am the 2nd keeper on v5) and owned by me since about February 2013. Purchased from a Skoda main dealer on their approved used scheme; purchased with cash so no outstanding finance and its HPI clear.

Tax until 31/01/2015

MOT until mid March 2015

Full Skoda main dealer service history; serviced annually and NOT on the variable system.  I prefer my car to be serviced every year and don’t like leaving it as long as 2 years.  4 stamps in the book as follows and receipts for everything whilst in my ownership:

Date                          Garage                                                            Miles                                                           Work Carried Out

24/02/2011                Skoda - Sherlodge Garage                             8,126                                                           Inspection Service

27/01/2012                Skoda – Beadles Skoda                                17,409                                                          Inspection Service & Brake Fluid Change

04/02/2013                Skoda – Westgate Skoda                              25,843                                                          Inspection Service

12/03/2014                Skoda – Winchester Motor Co                      36,283                                                          Inspection Service & Pollen Filter

I validated all of the service history prior to purchase and it is all accurate.

Currently has an active service plan which is fully transferable to the new owner.  This plan will pay for the next service (around 46k miles or March 2015) including a brake-fluid change, which is an added benefit for the new owner worth around £290.

Standard Factory-Fit Specification includes:

·       Xenon Headlights with AFS (active cornering)

·       DRL’s in the fog lamps

·       Full leather interior

·       Heated front seats

·       Electric front seats (Drivers seat has 3 memory positions.  Position 1 and 2 are key linked and adjust upon entry)

·       Columbus Satellite Navigation system with 30GB HDD (circa 20GB for music) and SD card slot.

·       Maxi-dot computer which also displays navigation data and phone information etc

·       Bluetooth hands-free (works with latest iPhone as I have upgraded the control module)

·       Electric windows and mirrors

·       Electric folding mirrors

·       Steering wheel controls

Factory fitted Extras:

·       Metallic paint

·       Cream interior

·       10 speaker sound system upgrade, which includes an amp under the passenger seat

·       Rear and back window sun-blinds that pull up out of the door / parcel shelf.  Brilliant for kids and keep sun out even when the window is open

·       Spare wheel and jack kit

·       Umbrella in rear passenger door

·       Front and rear carpet floor mats in black

Extras added in my ownership:

·       18” ‘Golus’ design alloy wheels from the new Octavia Mk3.  Genuine Skoda wheels supplied by a Skoda main dealer and shod in Continental Sport Contact 2 tyres all round – 225/40 R18 92Y.  Tyres are virtually new (only 3k miles covered).  Alloys are totally unmarked, with absolutely no scratching or kerbing.  I replaced the Themisto’s due to the onset of the dreaded ‘white-worm’ which affects all polished alloys.

·       SuperSkoda rear lip spoiler, professionally painted to body colour.  Bonded to boot, so could be removed with minimal damage.  Looks almost factory fitted and improves the look of the car no end.  I’m not a boy racer, I simply wanted to improve the look of the rear of the car.

·       Upgraded Bluetooth controller so now compatible with latest iPhone’s.  Works great with my 5.

·       Genuine Skoda plastic boot liner

·       Genuine Skoda mud flaps front and rear

·       Briskoda sticker

I truly believe that this is one of the best (if not the best) example of a 1.8 TSI Elegance you will find in the country.   It has been meticulously maintained, regardless of cost and is virtually unmarked on interior and exterior.  I expect you will find a few age-related stone chips and marks if you look really closely, but that really is it.  Genuine touch-up pen supplied too.

In light of the condition, specification, low miles and inclusion of the next service FOC I am asking £11,000.   What Car and Wise Buyers price based on standard specification and none of the extras I am including is around £10,500 – so I think my price is fair.  Dealer would probably want around £12,000-£12,500.

Car is located near Fareham in Hampshire.  Viewings by appointment - please PM me and I will send you my phone number.  Weekends work best for me.  No test pilots please and you must have valid insurance to drive this vehicle, otherwise you will be restricted to the passenger seat.

Quite tempted by this. Sadly, with my sensible hat on I don't need it just yet. Will still give it some thought though. Very good advert btw. Keen to see it on the new wheels though.

Hi Nick, new wheels are in the single pic on the very first post. Hoping to wash it tonight and post more pics shortly afterwards. Best regards, Jon

A few new pictures added to the second post.  These were taken after a quick wash last night.  I finished giving the car a clay, wax and seal this evening but it was getting dark so couldn't take photos.  Will try and update again tomorrow.

12/03/2014 - Winchester Skoda - MOT.  Advisory for front tyres (now replaced), child seat fitted and belt not tested (obviously works fine), NSR lower suspension arm bush slightly deteriorated (advised by technician that it is not needing replacement anytime soon).

15/05/2013 - Winchester Skoda - Genuine VAG screen wash.

15/03/2013 - Winchester Skoda - MOT. Advisory for child seat fitted and belt not tested (obviously works fine), NSR lower suspension arm bush slightly deteriorated (advised not needing replacement anytime soon).

03/01/2013 - Westgate Skoda Grimsby - Multi-Point check for approved used car.

Full document pack in folder and service book stamped as per my first post.

Also has had the following carried out under the original manufacturers warranty (no receipts - but easily verified by the garage):

March 2013 (I think) - Winchester Skoda - New wheel centre caps all round

Feb 2013 (I think) - Winchester Skoda - Skoda technical bulletin for vibrating front speakers due to sound system upgrade.  Both front doors had new speakers I believe and door frames / cards insulated with 'dynamat' type material and all cables insulated in foam wrap.

In case you were wondering, yes, I really did go to Grimsby (From South Coast) to get this car! Distance never puts me off the right car and sometimes you have to travel to get the best. I spent all day on a train or in the car, but it was worth it.

For anyone considering my car I'm happy to collect from Southampton Airport

That is VERY smart! The new owner will be VERY lucky indeed! GLWTS!!

Look at the beading on that !!!!!!!

Just about to hit 40k miles.  Some of the 1.8 TSI's on Autotrader at the minute are very 'leggy' and well over 100k.  Good to know that they handle miles with ease.

If you are worried about buying 2nd hand, you can easily pick up a decent used car warranty for around the £300 mark, saving yourself a dealer premium of, I would guess at, around £1,500 for this sort of car.

Please see my eBay feedback, many years trading and over 500 positive feedbacks (not a negative in sight).

Lovely car quite tempted by this myself lol

Price is ONO, so will listen to sensible offers. I still haven't seen a nicer condition / specification one for sale.

Honestly wished I had the money spare to have this, even it is a manual. Lovely motor and what I'll be after next. Just wished that time could be now. Oh well, good luck with the sale, and I love the wheels.

  • Author

Cheers g_tee if I don't get a decent price for it, I may keep it a bit longer, so timing might work out!

Just over a day left on eBay...........

Just watched the end of the auction. What's the plan now?

  • Author

I guess I will keep it until I get a sensible offer! Bad night to end an auction in hindsight - popular going out night!

Last chance on eBay, otherwise I'll be keeping it.  Wont let it go for silly money, given the condition, specification and added extras.

What Car and Wise Buyers agree that it is worth £9,500 to £9,700 in a private sale in standard spec.  The options, new wheels / tyres and service plan must add up £750, hence my £10,250 asking price.

Seen a few cars and vans and things I am interested in, so prepared to move on price a little bit. Looking for offers in the region of £10,000.  There are cheaper cars out there, but I've seen some of them in person and to be frank they are dog rough, not so with mine, it has led a very pampered life !

What's going on with the price on your autotrader ad?
