What else have I missed on my Octavia III then?

Featured Replies

I'm a typical bloke, I refuse to read the manual for anything, believing instead that you should be able to work out most things through use and good old trial and error.

As I was driving along the other week on my way home from a late shift I thought to myself (not for the 1st time either) "the auto dimming rear view mirror isn't very good!". It was only when giving the car it's 1st real good clean yesterday that I found the button to turn it on....

So, what else have I missed?!

Very difficult question to answer. Tell us everything youve noticed, and we may be able to tell you what youve missed :D

Have you gone through the voice recognition thoroughly. I never realised just how much it could do. Oh wait, i assume the vRS has voice recognition? I know its a second rate car compared to the Elegance, but surely not that much?

Well as Donald said..... "as we know, there are known knowns; there are things that we know that we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns, the ones we don't know we don't know"

And then there are smart arses who know the knows and also the unknowns

Voice recognition: tried once or twice to call the wife via Bluetooth connected iPhone, failed miserably. Not used since!! Siri doesn't understand my East Yorkshire dialect!

One thing I will have to read up is the headlights, I'm sure I've seen the turn into corners when I 1st bought the car but can't seem to get them to work like that now?!

Make sure the light switch is set to Auto and you're not in Eco mode. ;)

This Eco mode sounds like a real corker as it seems to disable half of the vehicles features to save fuel and energy… surprised you don't have to get out and push the bl**dy car!

What next… auto-engine cut-out when you're driving down a hill, a device in the seat that recoups energy from farts?

It would help if the manual was model-specific, or at least gave you some guidance. It seems to be written for a car that has 100% of the bells and whistles - then you have to go looking for switches and features which may or may not be there.

There you go! That'll be why. I drive in Eco mode all the time! I must've noticed the headlamps on a rare occasion when I've managed to suppress the tight Yorkshireman in me and drive in normal or dare I say it, sport!

On the vRS selecting Eco mode should throw up an error and ask you if you ment Sport mode.

I've spent most of the last 13.5 months driving round in eco or normal, but a couple of weeks ago, stuck it in sport and can honestly say have not lost any mpg, still getting mid-high 50s over a tank and mid 60s on long runs. I reckon the slow throttle response in eco is countering any efficiency gains round here due to the hills!? Leaving it in sport now to enjoy the full potential of the engine, especially now I have gone all boy racer with my new spoiler!

Eco. Sucks. Feels like someone put the 1.6 in my car until you find the carpet. Then it's of like a cat being chased by my dog!

Hmm. Indeed. I couldn't possibly fail to disagree with you less minimoke.

I would save a LOT of money on petrol with this installed
