Bluespark review. happy!

Featured Replies

I have to admit, the more positive reviews I read, the more impressed I am with the Bluespark kit! TMC need to seriously think about their pricing now....

  • it will improve the o-60 , but not by much, if you look at the graphs with the box fitted there are bigger gains mid-range, basically, 0-60 will feel similar, but overtaking, coming off roundabouts ec

Going to ring local dyno tomorrow see if i can get booked in. Powerwise im very happy. Had a play with a golf r32 yesterday and kept up no problem at all but when the bend came he was off. If this handled like i want it too i would of been stuck to his bumper. rarb and lowering springs are a must now. The car hops all over the road going into s bend. Makes me realise how well my ep3 type r handled as standard . Handling on these is shocking

lower springs bilstien dampers, anti-roll bars, an most importantly good tyres! will see it match most things ;) yellowstuff pads are a good improvement too :)

Intercooler is top of my most wanted list. There are a few around now which use original mountings, forge,Apr,wagner to name some. The Apr one is too pricey, don't fancy the forge one (no specific reason) so the wagner ic is the one I'm after. After that POSSIBLY a custom intake. With this setup I reckons 220bhp is a reasonable figure to hope for.

that isnt cheap?

you not fancy going the custom route?

the kit i posted links to you could build for less than £100 and it may be just as good?

Couldnt agree more,

they were on point when it was remap vs tmc but with bluespark on the scene they have some good competition now.

I don't want to have to start cutting anything for it to fit.

I followed your thread on universal fmic kit and good on you for getting it working but I like things that have been designed for a specific purpose.

Yeah and sedox tuning. 194 with box on and 20lbs torque more. For the money paid lad said its worth it. That was on 2nd off last setting. Advised obviusly remap better but for 125quid . Il get the graphs up

So just for clarity, you've got it on the setting that the box is delivered on?

So 187 stock and 194 with box on? To me the gain looks rather unimportant even for a mere 125 quid as you say. Why not enjoy the free power boost from Skoda on an engine that on paper puts out 180ps as it is ...

Edit: I just saw the graph, the torque increase between 2 to 4.5K is not bad but apart from that I see no other significant gains.

Its the way it feels to drive. There is a difference. Be it more torque

Well the lower down torque is good enough for me. Very noticeable difference driving with it the box on than off.

Not knowing what fuel was used, is a service needs doing etc it's difficult to judge really. Tbh I would be a little disappointed as your engine stock is nearly 10hp more than mine and you still a fair was off quoted figures for a cave engine. So going on your gains, I should be getting less that you did at stock. I would have expected to see around 210bhp from a cthe engine. If I only get 10hp more, I'm sending the box back.

Yeah it makes sense as it's the most useable rev range for everyday use.

Still, I don't get how a CAVE engine with one of those is stronger at circa 200 hp. I understand if an ECU is locked and can't be remapped but then these boxes should either be giving 0 gains or more gains than the CAVE versions, say 210 hp. Can't explain this minor increase although no techie by any means.

97ron fuel used. Service due 2000miles. What are the actual figures these tmc boxes are achieving and not what they quote?

It's somewhere here if you look it up, quite a few of them. Certainly more than 7hp gains though that I remember for sure.

Be interesting if someone has a figure in a cthe engine like mine with a tmc box. and there standard run then with the box on?

I wouldn't be surprised if a CAVE engined car produced the same figure as the CTHE one with the box attached. Therefore giving the greater gain. All the box is doing is altering ECU signals to it's predetermined settings on the Bluespark box. There isn't toe different boxes for CAVE or CTHE you can buy??

It's like the 1.2tsi if you map either the 105 or the 86bhp one you get the same end result of 125!

But here we're talking about less end result between CAVE and CTHE and one in favor of the CAVE strangely. I don't recall any Bluespark box reviews though, only TMC ones on CAVE engines. Maybe there's a difference between those two (boxes).

My standard bhp 187 im happy with that. Although 194 with the box on isnt hardly a

Bhp difference it does feel better because of the torque. Its staying on anyhow
