Clean Your Car - Foam Cannon

Featured Replies

These could be an option if you don't have access to electricity, but if you do I'd invest in a nilfisk pressure washer and the autobrite snowfoam lance. Get some decent snowfoam and you only need an inch in the bottom of the lance bottle topped up with warm water so it works out quit cheap once you have the kit. The jetwash is also far better than a hose for rinsing too IMO.

I've used the Super Sprayer many many times before I got my pressure washers and Autobrite Foam Lances.

Out of the two the Super Sprayer is the best value and far better than the Gilmour (I really don't rate it at all).

Tried one once; wasnt that impressed TBH. Pressure washer and Autobrite foam lance is the best solution i have found!

Funnily enough I couldn't really get on with the Super Sprayer, I guess it's just what you take to :)

Don't be put off, I love a good snow foam as much as the next man, but if you really critique the cleaning power you will find that with the right routine you may find that the wetter mix from something like the Gilmour/Super Sprayer or in my case 'cheap' Draper Garden Hose End Attachment can be extremely effective with the right pre-wash.

Even with a PW set up and Foam Lance, I have seen a lot of people going for excessive cling, over egging the strength of the foam mix and getting worse cleaning performance because the aerated mix just sits on top of the dirt and doesn't penetrate, not to mention the undesirable effects on rubber etc of a strong chemical mix sat on your car for 20 minutes.  If you go to a wetter mix, you lose the foam cling that people feel the need to see, although cleaning may improve, this isn't so far from what you might get with a Gilmour.

Swings and roundabouts really, DYOR and most importantly, take pictures and report back :)

DYOR?

haha, that was intentional as we all love acronyms.

DYOR - Do Your Own Research.

Well...I nearly got it. I got the DYO as Do Your Own, but then I was stumped. All I could come up with was DYOT for Do Your Own Thing.

Thanks for the explanation, Mark.

I have purchased both from CYC and must say I was more impressed with the cheaper hose attatched one. The foam-cannon is a copy if not an unbranded Gilmour type one and I was disappointed with it,s results.

Don't get me wrong it was nothing compared to the Autobrite Foam Lance but for a cost effective way to get product onto a car, it worked a treat.

I've been told snow foam through a hand pump is really good but I've never tried it so I couldn't say whether I agree or not. I've used pre-washes a few times but the kid inside me loves the snow foam, I always get a little kick out of other peoples faces when they see me doing it. They get that 'what the hell is he doing' look.

You could keep your eye out for a good used petrol pressure washer. I've just looked and although a few a 'spares and repairs' there are also a few working ones for the £50 mark or a small generator for a similar price.
