Purchasing Sparkley's ITG Maxogen on Fri, will I be the first to do this to a CTHE engined VRS?

I'll get some vids up of the noise as soon as I can after.

I doubt you'll be the first person to put an air filter/induction thing on as the engine is around two years old now isn't it?

Now that's a shocker... One of the few vRS owners left here with enthusiasm for his car and the modding scene...

Interested to see what he'll get next, still struggle to see what else ticks the same boxes for the money.

Me too, it's such an epic car I'm not sure what else out there comes close.

Yeti hopefully.

Or maybe a Ford ST.

I think those are the two big contenders with a Mk2 FL Octy vRS 2.0tsi a distant 3rd.

the missus has stated categorically that I will be disowned if I bring home my favourite which is a T5 Sportline, apparently she doesn't like the idea of being driven around in a 'Van'!

In the price range im guessing you will be going for the mk2 focus st? Please dont go for the ST you will be bored. and imo they arent a very good car, slow for the economy, interior looks nice, but seats arent all that comfortable, remapping MEANS £900 RS clutch and flywheel. leaky cylinders (mine developed that).

unless its the new 250, that will be better :) that is the one i wish i stumped up the extra cash for in the first place.

my choice would be a leon cupra if your looking at spending around 10k..... and im not a huge VAG car fan...

Suggest that she looks at the Royal Wedding of William & Katherine or the likes,

the guest arrive in Mercedes Vans,  fancy ones right enough with some proper seating in the rear.

So is a Isuzu Double cab D-Max 'Blade' with Fixed Rear as standard (no cost option) out of the question.

and as I am looking for a load lugging estate, the Mk3 is the only one up for discussion, with a small spend on some good brake pads and fluid, some track suitable rubber and a mountune upgrade I think I'd probably have some fun at How Fast later this year too.

...........and then I read the Yeti vRS and Beti the K04 Yeti threads again!

'vRSy'  seemed very pleased with his change from vRS Stage 2 +, to a Focus ST that then went to Track Days.

There are some good deals around in Focus Estate ST, especially in Colours that people are not wanting.

A buyers market really.

Yep I am finding this George, there is a low mileage ST2 in White close to me on for a good price.

Do you know what.....................just checked and the bugger has sold, it was 20 ish K miles and under £14k.  Not surprising, it was a bargain.

That's disappointing.

Still, you could get a Rapid "Sport" for £18k instead...

I'm looking for something fairly quick Richard, I don't think I can handle that kind of insane performance.

dont need to get ****y man,

I just assumed around the 10k+ region, trade your car in, put a bit of money on top (like most people do..) then you're at where mk2s are priced.. I was only giving you my opinion and experience on them..

I did not know MK3s were selling so cheap? when i was looking they were around £17500, that was 8 months ago though. this is what put me off the MK3 and why i went for the MK2 as i had 11k max to spend.

i know ford were doing a deal a while back on pre registered ST3 estates. maybe worth looking into if thats what your after?

Too Sporty for you?

I still say Yeti 1.8tsi or 2.0 diesel 4x4 170bhp (both are good, that's why I have them) or a Ford ST.

Not ***tty at all mate, this is the peril of internet forums, something typed in good jesting spirit can through noones fault be misread and cause upset.

I must remember to make better use of the smilies :D

Yeah I would never have thought that they had dropped so much, a good few floating around the 15k mark and no discernible difference in price between hatch and estate.

One thing I am braced for is a pitiful trade in on my vRS.  July 2010 reg with 50k miles on the clock.  :peek:

Exactly, Rapid....Sport, that's two kinds of fast, it must be a beast. :dull:

1.8tsi trumps the 170bhp Diesel as the petrols value seems to have slid faster than the top spec diesel engine.  For the 170 Diesel I would spend a fair bit more to get a car on double the miles and a tuning cap of 200bhp.  Both have their merits but I see a 1.8TSI SE 4x4 as more likely.

The beauty of the ST is a car with a lot more punch straight out of the box, the real trump card of the Yeti is that it is far more suited to the horrific roads around the West Yorkshire Countryside

Yes, better take a brave pill and be prepared to bend over on that one. :(

Yes, the Yeti 170 isn't particularly good value for money used (actually it's terrible) because it's holding it's money far too well.

Heaven knows who is paying those prices for a Skoda about to drop out of warranty.

Great for those that bought new, but not good for anyone else.

I just can't part with mine, best all round car I've ever had.

If you can live with fuel consuption of 28-32mpg the 1.8tsi is OK.

I do think a used ST represents good value for a fun to drive package though.

Shame you don't want a Fiesta as my ST-3 will go in a month or two... under 6 months old with 5,000 miles.  Cheapy cheap. ;)

I better not suggest a Mid Size Volvo Estate which is still even now pretty much a Ford,

but with better build quality, there are some that are nippy & even have pretty good handling.

V50 Estate possibly.

But the important part being 'VFM', there are some around at 'Much Cheapness; and with the Cloak of Invisibility for Free Gratis.

.......................

Sorry but must start a Sweep Stake on the Skodas Value.

£7,000 Traded in at a Dealership that have a car they can not get shifted if you take it.

£6,200 tops if there is someone that will make an offer on it.

You should get it away at around £6,800,

or if there is a Private Buyer out there with Cash , it is a good car for them.

I see your £6,800 and suggest £6,500.

Trade in that is.

Both your suggestions are above what I sadly feel will be offered if done as a trade :(

I may offer on here as Stage 1 with the suspension kit still on, so noone has to suffer stock ride quality and maybe has a nice base for some tinkering, as a known car that has been looked after and doesn't give oil problems, maybe it will find a nice home.  It will get a full FULL detail before it leaves as a parting gift.

The Fiesta might be a lovely car for my dear OH, we are soon to change her Yaris for something with a bit more life in it.  Keep me posted.
