octavia vrs spoiler

Featured Replies

The paint finish/laquer on the factory fitted spoiler has flaked really badly. main dealer salesman suggested looking at this website and possibly pursuing my dealer to repair on good will. Wouldn't have initially bothered but when saw a newer identical car locally I parked next to it and saw that they had the same issue even though the car was 2 years newer than mine. Has anybody else experienced this and were you able to get repaired for free by your dealer or at your own cost????

its quite a common problem apparently on some of the octys. i think new skodas come with a paint warranty valid for 3 years but after that i think youre on your own... if youre just out of the 3 year limit you could ring skoda uk and try and get a goodwill payment towards cost of getting it resprayed... but i think an indy paint shop/ body repair centre wouldnt be too steep on just that panel

The paint lifted off my spoiler when I had my vRS hatch, which was over four years old at the time, so I took the car to have it inspected at my local dealer.  As it was out of warranty, they suggested that I should submit a claim to Skoda, which I did.

I hadn't heard anything after a couple of weeks, so took the car to a local bodyshop, where they took the spoiler off, stripped, repainted and refitted it for £150.  Shortly afterwards, Skoda contacted me and wanted to know details and dates of the service history of the car.  Fortunately, it had a full documented Skoda history, so they took a sympathetic view of my claim and offered to pay for the repaint.

As I had already paid for the spoiler to be repaired, they offered me a voucher to use in payment for my next service, which I gratefully accepted.

There is no guarantee that you will be offered the same, but it must be worth an e-mail to Skoda for their consideration.
