White pre-FL vRS - ex-Police?

Featured Replies

Evening chaps.

I was just browsing eBay and dreaming of the day I can afford a Mk2 vRS as a second car - really do love them. Anyway, I came across this example. I can see no mention of being ex-Police but I thought all the white pre-FLs were for the Police?

Anyone care to elaborate?

The mileage might be an indication, i would have thought 100k plus if it was ex police.

I believe there were a few car built in white, think the dealers could put a code in the tricked the system. There were a couple of members on here that had them.

Police wouldn't have sat nav and would most likely have the petrol version I would of thought.

Don't most ex police cars have holes drilled in the side of the bumpers from where the wires from the lights went?

Yeah they would unless unmarked car! Check the service history and original keeper etc

It could well have been a police driving school car used to train bobbies to become advanced drivers. If that's the case then I wouldn't hesitate in buying it. Despite the fact they are driven briskly on the courses, they are really well looked after. Much more so than the standard police patrol

Hope this helps.

If that is a ex-police car it has a some good optional extras fitted; xenon headlamps, maxidot, rear parking and sat nav as already mentioned above. There is no cruise control which I thought they all had from about 08 onwards?

The rear vrs badge doesn't look standard for that model either?

I'm purely window shopping at the moment but they do look great in white.

Yeah I imagine the service history would reveal more.

Haha I have seen that car.  Been looking at a few white vRS' this week

Had a snoop at this one, really good chance it's Ex-Police with the stereo out like that.

Guys, can you please give me a hand I am looking to change my Mk2 Fabia vRS and a Mk2 Octy vRS is a top contender to replace it.

I am after a petrol estate.

Do the FL cars and Pre-FL have the self same 2.0 litre engine.  I know that around the time of face lift, other VAG cars with the 2.0tfsi moved to the TSI (I think that's correct, please no flame) and this saw the bhp lift from 197bhp to 211bhp.

Most all of the Octy's I have seen on the trader just state 200bhp.  Now of course I don't automatically believe what I read on the trader.

I was just wondering can someone clarify if the vRS FL got the 211bhp tsi variant of the 2.0

most dealers take the sat navs out of the cars when on the lot

Yup, actually just called them and the nice Polish sales rep told me basically that yeah the dealership is in Bradford and they have to do it.

On the plus side, looks like a lovely low miles white estate and bonus is the missing system on the pics is and RNS510 Nav

There are elements of this post are true and some are myth

Being a local fuzz myself I can say that there is no "uniform" approach to buying police vehicles it's usually what's the cheapest or best offer. Most police have now ditched the petrol variants as they are too inefficient so the newer vRSs tend to be derv driven.

The one in the pic is a driver training car so you can see straight away that it's very 'overt' in its appearance.

This is actually a petrol vRS that slipped through the net, once again though it's about cost,

I know Nottinghamshire used to have vRS petrol estates as their dog vehicles (used to be a nots bobby before transferring to Shakespeare's county).

The switched them all to derv driven ones due to appalling fuel economy.

Pre FL and FL cars typically have different motors.

The Pre FL had the old EA113 motor (1st gen direct injection) same as the Mk5 GTi, the FL the newer EA888 unit as per the Mk6 GTi.

Both units fire out the same power and torque, the EA888 was down 10ps on the MK6 GTi (210ps vs 200ps) but mechanically identical was software difference only (apparently). The variants had slightly different engine numbers and was rumoured that they were identical down to output.

Only slightly confusing part is very late in the Pre FL's life Skoda introduced the new EA888 TSI engine and CR diesel and the new steering wheels and infotainment/AC controls from the FL; most of these were the special edition but some v late regular cars also had the changes but are v rare.

Brill that both explains and clears up my confusion, in particular the stated 200bhp output on the FL EA888 kitted Octy, where I knew that the golf claimed 211ps.

Thanks, top reply.

Seems way over price to me. Mines is 1 year older had 47K on it when I got it. All the same options plus heated seats. Full Skoda s/h cost £6250

V welcome

Unless its had the instrument cluster replaced all police cars have a different non standard calibrated speedo, the pics on this show a standard speedo.Im sure there are a few members on here with a non police white pre facelift vrs. The octavia badge is missing off the boot & i hope its just the picture but on the wheel picture it looks like a wheelnut is missing, its got maxidot & rear parking sensors & xenon headlights as well as the sat nav. The ad does say service history but no mention of full history or by who? I do like the pre facelift vrs in white.

My 58 plate vrs doesnt have cruise fitted either.

Back in 2007 when I got my Fabia vRS SE, the dealer had a pre-FL Oct vrs estate in white, if I remember correctly it had been built for the police but they didn't take it.

I doubt this is ex police, mileage is fairly low and looks too clean/well kept with a lack of gromits (which are always used to plug up the holes made for lights/antennas on police cars). Interior looks a little grubby but then the white alcantara must be murder to keep clean.

Id also suggest the spec is too good and that the old bill wouldnt have gone to the trouble of fitting a columbus to it.

Probably one of those fluke orders where someones managed to get one through in white.

I think the cruise must have been part of a reduced price options pack from about 08 onwards, rather than standard fit.

I think the pack came with cruise control, 18" wheels, rear electric windows, or something along those lines for a very good price.

Mines got climate,18" wheels & jumbo box & rear electric windows but no cruise......weird.

Makes it quite a rare beast then.

Most do, but not all of them. Our 57 plate vrs was never sent away to be done due to the cost
