Detailing Training days - information

Featured Replies

Thought to share for all who may be interested..... i have details that a couple of training days are due.

These may be of use to those further afield from our current "sponsor" line-up; i know travel distance is always an issue.

First one is with Auto Finesse....

To follow on from this, the second option is with Clive at Autobrite, who is setting up another date - still TBD.

But you can provisionally discuss/reserve places now via email "[email protected]"

I trust this information is useful for some.

This is a great idea, I went on one of the 1st Autobrite ones a couple of years ago(if not longer). It's great to listen to the Pro's, those that have been doing it for years. You soon realise that these guys know what they are on about, fully insured, quality equipment (AD stock Flex) etc

I'd recommend it to anyone.

Good to hear positive feedback on the Autobrite course.

Hey Mark - absolutely; i have heard nothing but good things on Clive's training days at Autobrite HQ.

I know there were a few guys asking about such events - so i try and keep this post uptodate.

They are a great bunch as previously said. The good thing is they make you feel at home & treat you all as equals.

Nice one - thanks for re- iterating that Bob.

I've spoken with Clive already - very helpful and friendly :)

I'm curious how much I would pick up from one of the ab days, as I' m not big on practical experience but have done a fair old chunk of reading of guides and forums the past few months. I'm sure there was mention of a shop discount on the ab days, any idea how much this is?

Very curious myself on Clive's legendary training days. I've picked up a lot of knowledge

from friends, practical experience and the pro-detailer forum..... but still interested in

spending a day with the master....

Anyone attended as yet?

if you end up going can you take one of those dodgy rogue trader style hidden cams in a tie or briefcase and share with the masses :rofl:

All the GT86 boys went and said it was very good, well organised and excellent tuition. Although they decided to moan about the lack of food, typical!

I'll try and find the thread...

I spoke to Clive on this; he says they normally direct people to the nearby Asda for lunch supplies.

dont suppose you got any more flavour for what content of the course while you were speaking?

That asda is massive.  Sits overlooking the A500 like a tribute to a potteries deity

Actually Clive got in touch about an event on the 11th Oct. So I hope to head down and see what all the fuss is about :)

You won't regret it, I highly recommend leaving your credit card at home :)

Indeed - i have heard so many good things mate from so many different camps!

Clive has a great reputation.... and yes; i've got a small shopping list started already!

I was considering this one, but a works do has been planned and I think I may be attacked by the beer monster until the early hours on Friday.

Looks like i will have to live vicariously this time.  Waiting for a full and detailed write up  :nerd::D .

Would also love to know what sort of discount is granted on the day.

I hope to have time to do a more detailed write-up; but wanted to post up and say i had a great day down at Autobrite HQ with Clive and Kevin.

Top day out and a good bunch of guys. Also nice to see plenty of great cars stopping in throughout the day.

There was a big crowd for Autobrite regulars heading down to the French car Show at Donington.

A new Golf R stopped in as well - so had a nosey around that too

A full trial on most of the AD product range, use of the workshop and all polishers, DA's, paint gauges etc.

Test panels provided from a few Ford's and sectioned up and damage inflicted and repaired

Cars chosen for  team demo on the day were a 63-plate Vx Adam and a 55-plate BMW 730Ld.

Both cars showed issues we could tackle on the day..... poor protection, tar, tricky alloys, etc.

Overall - well worth the 180 mile round trip and cost for the course itself.

A wide mix of people from novice/beginner right through to experienced detailers wanting to improve and question new products, techniques etc.

Some pics....

Sounds like a worthwhile event to attend! :)

Think I'll try and sort one out for next year.

I shall endeavour to keep the thread updated with dates if possible. I have Kevin and Clive linked on Facebook.

Very helpful guys even with random detailing queries from time to time.

Im hoping to arrange one in the Spring

I'll put up a new thread nearer the time...with details

Aimed squarely at beginners...Wash techniques, product selection etc... and swirl removal via DA polishing

Watch out for the thread

Looked like a decent turnout, enjoyed my trip to AD a few years back. Also a good idea to keep the thread updated with any future AD training days, thanks for sharing.

It was a very good turnout indeed; and in fact it was over-subscribed - which speaks volumes!

I did ping Clive today to check on the next planned date(s) - as a few people had asked me;

but Clive is trying to accommodate those who missed out on this month first, then open up to forums.

As promised - i will post up when i know more.
