4 wheel alignment

Featured Replies

Where do people go to get the alignment set up in South east Wales area? I've used a place a couple in times, but can't get rid of an annoying pull to the left. Front toe was - 1.4mm both sides according to the screen figures (using a hunter machine). Could it be a subframe issue as that was dropped when the original failed attempt to fit a new clutch was fitted, which is when the problem started....

Could it be tram-lining rather than a pull in any one direction?

I've got this with the Honda, was convinced it was pulling left until on a quiet stretch I drove down the wrong side of the road for a bit and it pulled the other way.

Just a tyre issue I think.

Try that, also try swapping tyres from to back especially if you've got a different brand on the back.

If you want full alignment then - http://www.alignmycar.co.uk/

Give you sites with Hunter rigs (down for maintenance as I write though).

I had wondered if a tyre wear issue, but it's definitely not tramlining.

Toe -1.4 is out of spec, should be no more 0.1 plus or minus but aiming at -0.02

Have you got the printout?

A+A in Cardiff are pretty good, other than that Heath tyres also in Cardiff and a fair bit cheaper then A+A, both use the Hunter stuff.

Wherever you go make sure the operator of the Hunter machine centers your steering wheel properly. I was not expecting it at all but they managed to screw that one up on my car and had to have everything redone lol. Do not take the BS that the machine tells them where the centre is, not true. Before they start with the machine they need to manually set the the steering wheel straight.

No printout. It was done at heath tyres.

You get a print out if you ask for one in A+A. In fact I think thats why charge the extra because thats about the only bit they do different !!!

I found Mototec in Pontllanfraith to check it, £48 for all four wheels, with printout using the Hunter Hawkeye elite kit. Told me the subframe was set at max horizontal position (so the retaining bolts are as far across the slot as possible, i.e. not centred) which cause a camber difference. It's at around 0.3 degrees so unnoticeable when driving, and it isn't! The pull to the left has gone, and the steering wheel is back horizontal again at straight ahead. Found them using alignmycar.co.uk and based upon my experience thoroughly recommended. The guys at Heath didn't check subframe, nor do they check the wheel bearings / control arms for play either.

Sounds like a proper service for a very good price.
