As it said "Every tuning starts with brakes" i'm curious about such setups. 

With my A5 i had a various choice between audi calipers, brembo with some minor efforts, cheap 4-6pot touareg/cayenne brakes but haven't seen any setup on a new MQB so far. 

 

I ride 4x4 1.8t and there is a minor difference between RS and 1.8t in rotor and caliper sizes, so changing to rs brakes doesn't sound reasonable.

 

Any thoughts? 

No reason why you couldnt stick RS brakes on it; believe the rears are more or less standard across the entire range (272/276mm solids) but the 345mm fronts with big calipers would make a definite improvement.

My only concerns would be cost.....cant imagine the discs, calipers and carriers would be easy to source cheaply at this time, also I expect the vRS probably employs a beefed up brake servo to make the most of the stoppers and improve peddle feel.

The productivity is the reason. I had S5 calipers on my a5 rs, so i know more or less what to expect from 1 big pot brakes. And for +- same price i can get 4 pot front and i could be a better solution.

I think it depends on what you want, even the vRS isn't the fastest car in the world so there's a question as to how far you need to uprate brakes although I agree that there nothing worse than seeing a "modded" car where the owner has left the original brakes on - especially if the backs are drums.

No idea what your car has brake setup wise however if there is a difference have you actually driven a mk3 vRS? The reason I ask is that I've been driving a 150bhp diesel octavia the last couple of days while my vRS was in the garage and the brakes are no where near as good even though the two cars weren't far off acceleration wise.

If I recall correctly the vRS gets the golf gti pp front disks but not back, perhaps an upgrade to golf pp brakes all round might be an option?

Agreed. The brakes on the vRS are immense for its power; arguably overkill.

Not entirely sure why VAG didnt just fit 312mm fronts to the 2.0 TDi 150, the 288's are adequate but could be stronger.
