Engine warning light on

Featured Replies

The engine warning light has just come on my 2004 Fabia 1.2, the engine is misfiring too. I have a fault code reader and it has come up with a P0302 code which is a no2 cylinder misfire. I haven't driven the car yet since the warning light came on. Would it be ok to drive the car to the garage to get checked out or would it be better to get someone to have a look at it at home ?

check you have oil and water in it. if so it will be ok.

if your any good with tools. set of spart plugs and a coil should do it. if the coils are separate. swap with another coil to see if the miss fire changes cylinder. if so then its your coil

Thanks very much for your reply. I'm not very mechanical I'm afraid so a trip to the garage is required I think ! The oil and water levels are fine.

When was it last serviced?

It hasn't been properly serviced for several years, had an oil & filter change a couple of years ago but the car does less than 4k a year so I tend not to bother with services.

Cars that do little mileage really need annual services as short trips are not good for the engine.

Sounds to me like a coil pack is failing.

Check spark plugs and swap coil pack with cylinder one and see if error moves with it! If so coil pack then if not then it could be in the wiring or a different fault
