Fitted : -25mm Eibach's on my vRS

Featured Replies

The Mrs and Eibach treated me to some cheap lowering springs for my BIRTHDAY - so I had a 10k service and my springs fitted at JBS's new place yesterday. I am disappointed that these springs weren't fitted in the first place. It feels like a standard sports hatch now - and I don't think it is any quicker through the bends, but the braking is vastly improved, as well as high speed stability and traction is much better out of corners.

Totally recommended !

Far better than standard aren't they?!!!!

:D

Suited dampers improve it that little bit more. If that's possible! :D

Yep - I'm loving mine. Only problem is SWMBO wants them on hers now!!

:hooray:

Glad you got them fitted!

I never thought the braking would be one of the main advantages of the new springs, until i drove off from JBS and the pedal was so much more responsive with all nose dive gone!

The springs make the car feel more neutral in bends, only understeers in the tightest hairpins when the nose will eventually push wide. I have only ever got oversteer once and that was avoiding a rabbit mid corner

Enjoy :)

cheap

How much is cheap?!

How much to fit?

Cheers

Does it really make a difference to replace the dampers too or is it the springs that really make the difference in handling??

I got a special deal from Eibach, but i guess

Great info.

I have been mulling over what to get and just ordered some springs yesterday. Shocks will come later when the stocks wear out, that will give me a bit of time to decide what shocks I want to fit. (decisions, decisions).

another  for eibach :)

now i better get looking for some S3 wheels :(

Eibach springs & dampers were definately one of my best mods - such an improvement in the way the car rides and deals with lateral forces.

BTW, Andy, didn't you have your car up for sale or am I getting muddled???

Fitted mine a couple of weeks ago (had them fitted rather) and the difference was way beyond my expectations. Turn in is much sharper, understeer has all but been eliminated, ride quality hasn't suffered, handling has been improved infinitely. Tempted to go the whole hog now and get strut braces, adjustable shocks etc, but what's the point. The car now does whatever I want it to. Took it round silverstone at Trax, and was truly amazed at the package taking into account the other mods too.

The only thing is I cant find anywhere locally to do a laser alignment and as a result of the springs I have negative camber on the rear wheels. A very good thing from a handling point of view as I cannot get the back to stray even with furious provocation, but not good for the tyres which are now showing signs of fatigue on the inner third of the tread block. Any advice?

I don't know whether that can be altered? I had mine laser aligned after lowering and the garage said it was fine - no need to adjust, just a side-product of the lowering exercise....

Well JBS quoted, and charged, for 3 hours, so I can't imagine they are scheming in any way??

As for selling my car - I was hoping to sell it, but apart from a few bites early on, it didn't get a lot of interest - so she is staying :)
