How NOT to fill your washer bottle

Featured Replies

1.7 litres of tap water in first, then 0.3l of neat screenwash....

Bloody neat stuff just sat at the top in the pipe and wouldn't go down into the rest of the bottle. Looks kinda like a funny cocktail....

Hopefully soon I'll be shaking it around some corners which will be my "cocktail shaker" ;)

Another Jasonism

MOTTO: "Remember to mix your screenwash solution in a big jug before putting in car"

just tip it upside down a couple of times should mix it ok........sorry couldnt resist

Classic.

Credit to you for owning up though. Like my own personal car maintainance embarassment though......might have been better to keep to self, less anyone thinks "What a twonk" :P

(search threads for "pink foam")

Yes. :D I just went for the water first like a plank. I had just been through the exertion of changing the WHOLE washer bottle complete anyway, so I guess my mind was concentrating more on torx/sockets and level sensor wiring than how to fill the thing.

It was your "BEEEEP" thing in the other thread that made me remember this. :o

I think many of us have done it before Jay, we just haven't had the guts (or stupidity :P) to let everyone know.

Personally I fill a big bottle and with the mixture and then pour it in

It's an easy enough mistake to make (yes, me too :o )

Fortunately, it's also easy to fix - the "grille" in the neck of the washer bottle unclips (at least, it does on my Octy) so you can remove it and stir the contents of the washer bottle with a suitable implement. I find that a plastic chopstick (or should that be "half of a pair of plastic chopsticks"?) works OK - and the other one is handy for stirring paint.

Or, you could try mixing it prior to pouring ;)

It'll mix in as soon as you're out on the road, especially once you've used a bit and there's more room for it to jiggle about.

It'll mix in as soon as you're out on the road.

With jason behide the wheel it will indeed!! :D

Although in all seriousness my first 1000 miles or so will have to be done pretty gently. I didn't spend all this money on the special clutch to knacker it with lack or running in. :o

A straw is good too - but remember to blow and not suck.

You've done that before then :gay:

On a serious note, get a fish in there to stir it for you all the time. :D
