  • Right, this is getting ridiculous now.   I really do feel sorry for Tom, as his thread is being constantly spoilt by off topic arguments.   Can the people involved please no longer post if it is d

  • Ok so here it is, side by side comparison of M-Perf and Stock M135i exhausts. A mate of mine owns the white car, the grey one is mine. :-)

hope you don't mind me posting all this guff in our thread Tom, but I got my car back from the detailers and the result is superb. Super shiny and ultra reflective. The coating has teeny flecks of gr

As a BMW owner I can tell you that you are wrong

Better hang onto the current White one then.:)

If it drives better than the one I have (which is the most fun car I've ever owned) and I'm lucky enough to be able to afford one, then I guess I will overlook it's 'weapons grade beaver' look and try to get one.

I suppose the grill would be handy for grating large pieces of cheese.:tongueout:

HOLY F***.

That's a joke surely. A photoshop fail up there with a three legged Kardashian.

IT's even worse than the open paper bag / giant guppy mouth at the front of the new Audis.

It's like some awful former Soviet bloc home made custom.

Thanks for confirming I don't need to go to Specsavers anytime soon unlike the whole BMW Design Department.

I remember when everyone slagged off BMW's flame surfacing (I wasn't a huge fan when it first came out), but then the whole industry started to copy it. if Audi and BMW are starting to produce big nostrils, I bet they won't be the only ones 😞

Some of us still do...

I grew to like the distinctiveness of flame surfacing, but always struggled to love Bangle's other motoring design legacy...the Bangle Butt!!

Nope. Nasty.

I might have been in the market for something like that as well.

Quite like the look of the 2 Series Grand Coupe variant to the M135i Hatch.

Nice colour, front grill too big, rear end too high (reminds me of an X4) and boot opening too small. Rear seats only big enough for children (can imagine their feet prodding you in the back of the driver's seat as you drive) and it will be a lot more than £32,000 when it hits UK Dealers.

The BMW grills really look crap close up IMO, even on the most expensive ones.

But then in a Ford Focus ST vid that was linked today some half wit made some stupid comment on the plastic grill looking like alloy.  I think that was what he said.

Which is your preference- Hatch or Gran Coupe

Just read up a bit on that car.

42mpg..... mwhahahaha

SO has the Countryman with the same engine. If I drive at a steady 70mph for a long long way I might see, MIGHT see, 38mpg.

Normal mixed driving with aboslutely no 'fun stuff' expect to see at best 32mpg.

Lots of town driving, 22mpg with no 'fun stuff'.

I've never taken it out for a 'fun drive' I'm not sure one tank would get us out of the street.

SO loves the car but it likes a drink.

And that engine is made for 97+ RON.

Styling wise the GC looks better than the hatch but £37,000 for a car that has an engine that sounds like a sewing machine and Steve Sutcliffe goes as far as to say it is ruining BMW's reputation for building fine engines. This is what happens when you put Mini engines in BMW's (remember the 1.5 petrol engine from a Mini Cooper in the very expensive i8).

I can't think of a single 4-cylinder engine that makes a great noise these days. Things like the A45S have a few tricks up their sleeves, but progress has killed the sound. I loved the 4 cylinder lump in my 130TC Strada. All snorty and sneezy induction noise and a proper 'parpy' exhaust. The whole cabin was alive to the mechanical buzz of the engine, which as an enthusiast was exactly what I wanted. Electric cars are the high point of this miserable progression 😞 I had a couple Scoobys in the 80s and they were interesting and fun sounding things, but since then, nothing with 4 cylinders has really floated my boat. Sadly the next C63 looks as though it will be a 4 cylinder (I'm hoping they use their lovely straight 6 though). My next 'fun' car -if I can afford one that is- will almost certainly be 4 cylinders 😞

@Lady Elanore  It shows that you are still young enough that some sporty car making a nice noise when you are just standing about or sitting and minding your own business does not annoy you.

I do not mind if it is a great noise and a car arriving or departing at speed, but if it is just noise for the sake of it and the car is just at NSL's it is all a bit pointless.

Just as i typed that a pillock with a Silver Scooby just booted it outside my window as it was leaving the 30 limit and it is one that is a bucket of rust so not even show and no go.

When I am Leader of the World we will all have at least 6-cylinder engines, with special dispensation for 5 cylinder ones on request. I will invent a device that stops cows burping methane and petrol will be 20p a gallon. Sorted!

The mini engine in the JCW is surprizingly crackly especially on startup. In terms of modern cars it's no Mustang but it's better than most. I suspect that the sound inside has more to do with the sound generator I guess. But then my diesel makes V8 noises on the inside which might not be real but still sounds better than the tractor motor that actually is up front.

One of the worlds finest, perfect primary balanced tractor motor though. It matters :)

Did I ever mention I don't get out enough?

Similar Torque to a Lamborghini Murcelago and same 0-60 as a Ferrari 355.

Not bad for an oil burner 🤩
