Hi All

I just bought a late 2011 Octavia Laurin Klement, after my 56 was written off during a rear end shunt on the M4.

So its vey nice inside, leather, Sat Nav etc.

Not really sure how I find the Sat Nav\Map version etc so that I can update firmware and maybe maps, gone through all the menus and can't find an about setting??

Also the previous owner didn't spec the blue tooth kit so there is no phone integration, I've been quoted £400 to supply and fit the phone kit and £90 for a map update,

Have to say finding the prices here a bit hard to swallow, Ebay is full of  Android based Skoda head units for less that £300 that appear to do everything, also finding £90 for a map update very steep when most Tom Tom etc are £150 or so and have life time upgrades.

EDIT had a look around and found the version info so should be able to do a map\FW update!

get onto version 5238 and V10/V11 Maps

With the android based headunits you get what you pay for. They load them with features to make them attractive but they are generally poorly implemented with software bugs. Forget updates going forwards once you own one, Some members have got lucky in the past, but it really is pot luck.

For full integration you cannot beat the Columbus. You cannot really compare prices between a dedicated device such as a Tomtom. The Columbus has a built in HDD for storing music, can play DVDs and is fully integrated into the cars canbus, something neither a Tomtom or android headunit can fully manage.
