I'm pretty sure there are lots of wimmin who could drive one much better than me.

What I don't get with the mk3 Octavia Vrs is why it's only got 220bhp. Seems a bit below par considering even the Leon Cupra is given the 280 version. :think:

Is it part of the master plan? Seat have an array of fast stuff on the way, Skoda becoming dull and dutiful. VW moving up to challenge BMW and Audi becoming irrelevant

& BMW lowering the bar with Retail Prices, 3 cylinders & Front Wheel Drive to compete with the VWG.

 

Audi going E-Tronic, & chasing lower emission Diesels, since Germany where all for Euro 6 Emissions, and then even more strict Emissions from 2020,

then they decided to try and get the other EU countries to relax the new rules, they lost that argument and have had to get their butts in action.

Ah you see, the average BMW driver hasn't learned the mysterious benefit of the paving slab. I picked this up from my father and his Brooklands Capri.

I do have a certain skill behind the wheel but would never describe myself as divinity. But winter 2010 and spending 5 hours trapped on the M5 trying to get up to Jct1 taught me there are as many belelends driving front drivers as rear. How on Earth does someone get stuck in 5in of snow in a Focus? The trusty Mk2 (and in the subsequent winter 86c Polo) sailed through the poor weather passed an array of BMWs and a Maserati. Also plenty of front drive 'boot is best' brigade.

The little cul de sac where we live doesn't get cleared and the snow fills up badly! That always used to be a bit of fun getting my mothers BMW back in! And our driveway has a steep slope which just used to make it spin wheels!

Where we used to be was similar. Quite a few of the neighbours had flash mercs and bmws as well as a few big 4x4s specially designed for the school run. A few years back the snow was really bad and about the only car that could make it up was my old mk 1 fabia estate, much to the disgust of several people! One found it hilarious though.

Sounds just like here! Mind mums Beemer was 18 years old! In the little bit there's the more elderly with Freelanders and Jags etc I got through the snow in the 1.2 whilst they all struggled!

RWD 300 hp Golf? £8k, 1 careful lady driver (I don't think so)

Aha yeah. Similar thing happens around mine.

Used to have quite a laugh overtaking everybody as they got stuck in their posh cars while the little polo of ours with snow tyres just pulled past no problem.
