I went in on the Saturday morning and found this:D

A99D73DE-2A68-4B4C-89A0-4CD0B5117A25-177

Diamond in the ruff

It was a non runner. So i started by rocking the pickup in gear to get the engine turning then throwing away the aftermarket alarm and new plugs. Then a fuel pump and relay out the scrappy and cleaned the ecu connections and away she went...

Usually my project take years but this one is moving so fast I can't keep up...

It needs a new shock on the front so I'd like to replace the lot. Iv seen the fk street kit for the mk4 golf at £165 but if anyone can help me on an easier option that's not to expensive that would be great.

I'm heading to it soon so should have another update later...

More prepping on the body tonight so getting closer to prime time

Hello and welcome, nice looking project you have there...

Coilover suspension, easiest option is mk1 ford focus on the front, and use mk4 golf lowering springs on the back, it is possible for a few other setups if you are daring you could do away with the seperate spring arrangemnt on the back and use a coilover from a mk4 polo or mk3 golf.

Cheers and thanks for the welcome:)

I've been searching and searching.. I seen some threads on hp sporting coilovers and would have liked to have gone down that route, but that seems to be no longer available. The Avos are to pricey to.

I've just ordered some standard front and rear struts and a set of 60mm lowering springs from eBay.

They'll be easy to fit so I hope they'll do!!

Cheers its all moving fast. All thanks goes to central body repairs. The guys in there are top class, they've let me muck in to which has been a great laugh and a steep learning curve.

The patience and time required in there trade is mind blowing, plus mine is being done inbetween jobs!

What a great project just won a Fun on ebay

Just need to collect and see what needs doing

Can't wait to see this one finished great inspiration!

What did you use to clean the yellow leather up so well? (if you dont mind me asking?)

  • Author

I used a compound lightly that the painter uses to flatten and polish it's just like auto glym polish. But it could take the yellow off so only doing the heavy soiled parts once with that.

Hi! Looks great! :) Where did you buy the lowering springs and what shocks did you use or was it a full set you bought?

I got the springs from eBay, and the shocks are genuine from Skoda:)

Was in two minds as to do the truckman in the original colours with the black texture.. But after a few discussions and ideas its been decided to do it in the two tone again and lose the black...

Still unsure on that but it should tie it in well
