Talking of air con noises.....

Featured Replies

I've got a subtle but annoying fault when the aircon is switched on but low fan position.

At 1 its noticeable. 2 less so and 3 and 4 position of the fan is such that the noise more or less obsfucates it

It also is specific to the "aircon" switch, not the fan itself I have noticed and ONLY happens when aircon is on and the engine is running.

Can't hear it from outside the car, only in the dash with the low speed on the fan.

It may also temporarily seem to get better if leave the aircon on full for quite a while then put it back to one

Cooling itself considering its never been serviced is still good, just this noise is annoying

(its on a level with the other noises that grate me which include the turbo getting that bit noiser over time,

oh and sucking/pinking/ticking noise on load, god knows what that is

Maybe describe it as a bit like swishing in the dash or something and happens as soon as you start the aircon button with engine on and goes away a few seconds after you turn it off.

Worth visiting an aircon specialist if it may not bee too expensive ?

(Unfortunately with imminent expensive house move, splashing cash on the car isn't an option right now so putting up with it for a while may be an  option, stereo louder !)

Could it be the aircon fan on the rad ? Strange I can't hear this from outside though.

Tried to record it on my phone but I think the frequencies are such it doesn't come across well

Ours made a hissing noise which went away with a re-gas. Hissing, swishing, tomaytoe, tomartoe?

Cheers, I guess that might be all it is. How much did you pay out of interest and with whom ?
