Octavia vRS A/C problems.

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I really need a little bit of advice and help here, here goes,

We traded our type R in 3 years ago (big mistake) for a brand new 11 plate Skoda Octavia vRS estate, not long after the purchase I go a promotion at work and I use one of there vehicles on a weekly basis so the vRS gets little use. Anyway my first service was due last July 2012 the car only has 7000 miles on the clock at its first service, every thing was fine until a month later.

The A/C failed I took it back to Skoda they said that the compressor/ condenser  failed, it was fixed under the warranty, so far so good. My warranty has now finished last month the car is now three years old but the condenser is not a year old yet. Well this week the A/C has failed again, I have just had the car serviced today from the mail dealer with 10,100 miles on the clock, they have re gassed the system but the A/C still does not work.

They have asked me to return the car this week for further investigations but they have warned me if the compressor has failed again then it will be a 1300 pound bill, that I will have to pay.

They have told me that hopefully it will be an electric fault and not the compressor/ condenser.

Surely this part that they replaced last year should have some sort of warranty with it, the condenser is less than a year old, the Skoda dealership basically said that it does not work like that.

I need some advice from someone who's in the know.

regards

Darren

Any parts replaced under warranty are only guaranteed until the warranty expires. If you pay for th you get 2 years guarantee.

Skoda dealers aren't exactly the most knowledgeable and definately not the cheapest. Good luck

Well I dropped my car off again this morning at the main Skda dealer in my area at 8.30, got a phone call at 14.30 saying that they had taken a A/C compressor out of another Octavia and tried it on my car, the A/C worked, they have had a look at my compressor and they think that its seized up.

The car is just out of warranty by three weeks on a 11 plate with 10,200 miles on the clock, the climate control has always been on since I picked the car up new from the same dealers.

I originally thought that the compressor had been renewed last year but I have been told today that it was the condenser that was broke last August.

The dealers have not charged me a penny today for there work on the car, which I was over the moon with (thank you MSB of Darlington) but now I am wondering how to approach this with Skoda UK.

Surely this compressor should not let me down on a car which has covered very few miles? Should I send them a letter or ring them? I would like to think that Skoda UK would honour this and get the A/C repaired.
