Rear brake upgrades

Featured Replies

I'm curious to see what people have done or would recommend for the rears. It doesn't make a massive difference like the 312mm does, but I'm looking at replacing the rears at some point and just wondered what everybody had/has done.

Vented 256 rears from the Octavia vrs/ golf

I've got a complete octy vrs brake setup on mine. Only changed the rears because one was leaking. Not much different to be honest.

256mm vented from an Octy vRS here aswell.

Only reason I upgraded was because I was after new disks and pads anyway, and a complete good condition 256mm set popped up on Ebay for less money. Bit of a no brainer for me :)

Plus they do look so much more at home behind 17" wheels!

Also 256 vented from an Octy vRS.

I on my upgraded as the original set-up looked puny behind the Spiders. Made enough difference (visually) for me :)

Snap same here 256mm rears with Pagid discs and pads only changed them due to looks really as they looked pony when I had the 312mm setup on the front.

Fronts do the majority of the braking anyways.

256mm on mine too. Would like bigger discs....just to fill the wheels :)

You can get a kit to upgrade to 300mm discs.

Not cheap though

I looked at a kit from PB to up he rears to 304mm I was quoted roughly £1000

Yeah that's the complete setup with calipers and the line lock system. The setup I saw kept the original caliper, just upped the disc size

I think even 280mm would be better :)

I think the 256 setup makes a big difference to the braking on a Fabia. I found when under hard braking from high speed with the standard setup the back end became a bit loose and snaked.

Thanks all!! The next question would be discs and pads? Any main preferences I see RCB uses pagid, any other brands run through?

Also running Pagid pads and disks.

As has been said, the rears don't do very much anyway, so Pagid is a plenty good enough option to go for. Relatively cheap and OEM quality :)

I run my own modified Pagid discs all round with Mintex M1144 pads. Stops well enough
