Fabia Airbag Light On?

Featured Replies

Hi,

My daughter's complaining that the airbag light on her 1.4 Fabia is constantly on. Before I start to investigate, has anybody got any ideas, please?

Regards: Jim Ford

Never had this happen, I think the best thing to do is let your Skoda dealer investigate it.

Maybe just needs resetting or is faulty?

Definately take it to a dealer to investigate. You don't want to mess with the explosives.

Jim,

Get it to a dealer ASAP - when the airbag warning light is on - the Airbag system is OFF!.

It could just be a bad connection or possibly a fault with one of the bag's themselves - it need's checking and clearing, then if it's a sporadic fault that listed(it usually is) then it will need to be monitored.

Absolutely in NO circumstance should you try and do any work on the airbag yourselve - the risk of injury is too great.

My girlfriend has a Punto and sometimes the airbag light would come on when she brakes, she brought it back and they said it was low on brake fluid, but why the hell should this cause the airbag light to come on.

I can see absolutely no link between brake fluid and airbag light.........but then of course maybe it was the Brake warning light that came on ?????

Not wishing to diss SWMBO you understand......wouldnt be the first time tho :D

ditto please don't try to work on the airbag you risk serious personal injuries (even death) leave it to the proffesionals

Ci5.....thought they finished years ago

Gaff,

This just sounds like the standard fit Italian car electrics. My mate's got a lovely 147 2 litre Selespeed. Beautiful car to drive (I even considered one myself) but the dash lights up like a Christmas tree at regular intervals. There's never anything actually wrong (ABS, low oil, airbags etc) it just does it anyway. Apart from the traction control. The button is broken and stuck in the 'off' position.

skodaw,

I didn't think there should be any link, thats why I posted to see what you more experienced guys thought. I'm not planning to touch the car myself, but I was thinking about dropping into the dealership and finding out who made this diagnoses. I'd hate to think they were filling her full of rubbish.

Its definately the airbag light that was coming on. The reason I know it was coming on was that while I drove it on windy back roads one night it kept happening when I hit the brakes.

I'd hate to think that either the air bag will now not go off when needed or may be faulty and go off when not needed.

You never know with Italian electronics -- there may be some tenous link -- but I've never heard of that kind of link -- on Audi's there are two switch's on the brake pedal -- 1 for the lights, the other for the engine management -- so maybe there is some link -- best bet is to pop into the dealership and have a word

  • 3 weeks later...

The airbag light came on on my old Felicia, I took it to the dealer expecting a fault in the airbag. Turned out to be a faulty alternator putting a higher than normal voltage into the system that had caused the problem.

Any update for us, Jim?
