Will any double din stereo fit my fabia?

Featured Replies

As above guys, currently got a RCD 510 inside and was wondering if any double din stereo would fit inside without having to buy another surround etc?

Cheers

Anybody?

I think youd need a new surround. The current radio isnt perfectly square is it

Must admit I have considered different stereo's, this is the only Skoda I haven't swapped the head unit straight out for an aftermarket unit.

The only reason I haven't changed mine is it is integrated into the dash (with maxi dot display) and the reversing sensors! No aftermarket head unit is compatible with either of these, therefore until it breaks I am leaving it well alone!

The thing is I have no parking sensors and no maxidot display so it looks as though my best option is to replace the rcd510 with an aftermarket unit

there is a few out there which will work with them, As mine does. The kenwood dnx521dab is an approved vw upgrade and that works with everything and does more than you need. They are mega I've got one in my vrs.

I think that's the one in the Skoda Accessories brochure, Looks Epic, and I think Skoda can fit it for you!! (at a cost of course!!) :D

Was thinking about it on my Fabby...

I fitted mine myself it's easy enough plus you know it's been done right haha

You can buy a surround to fit aftermarket radio it has a slot for the radio and a cubby hole at the bottom

If its a single DIN radio yeah.

A double DIN radio (like the standard) would look better IMO.

I did not see double din in the post until now

Thanks Ant-VRS, might have to be a present to myself in the future! Its quite expensive!

Yeah! One day I'll perhaps justify it, but they seem too much money for me atm.

They do look good though!

Yep fully agree Otaylor

Google 8" Android GPS DVD for VW.

For under £300 you can get an Android Honeycomb powered 1.6ghz dual core processor stereo that will be a direct VAG fascia fit on your car.

I am seriously tempted to buy one as you get nav, DVD, USB, SD card, even DVB-T free view with an additional £40 tuner and Wi Fi and 3G dongle compatible, load android apps onto it.

They seem really smart, just hammering the research before I buy.

They have UK stockists too, so no need to buy from China.

You can pay as little as £200 but I guess these will run a little slower as less ram and less powerful processor.

They are essentially an android tablet that is shaped like a columbus.

Hmm. Im abit warey of android stuff though. Not a big fan myself

I just made a "best offer" significantly under asking on ebay.

If it works out I'll post a review :)

Love android but would only really buy something that's got a decent spec and can be updated fairly regularly

And if the bluetooth functionality was solid

Might look into it

I'm looking to buy from ErisinTech

The beauty is that all the good head units come from one fairly decent supplier.

The unit I am looking at has a built in wifi modem, so I can park up by the house, connect to the net and indulge my inner nerd.

Be that updating, customising, downloading apps or rooting the unit.

2 year UK guarantee helps, these companies will do most anything to avoid negative ebay feedback too.

But I'm happy to guinea pig this, the power of free access to the android platforms wares is mega attractive.

Massive thread on XDA forums about them too I think

Had a look on there and they've managed to get the Appradio Pioneer head units to mirror Android devices, would be pretty cool that

Gonna carry on looking and make an informed decision hopefully

Updates to firmware will be in your hands, choose the nav app of your choice, same for music player.

Freeview TV on the move, easy.

..........hoping I don't regret the purchase but several manufacturers are taking the plunge with android for OEM applications.

You will be googling till your eyes bleed.

I'm going with blind optimisim :D

Seriously, I think if the hardware is sound, you could have some fun with one of these.

Lol, have sent them an email asking if I can connect 2 phones at the same time. See what they say

I doubt I'll get one though judging by the XDA forum. Quite a few people having issues judging by the last few pages. I need it to be a solid bluetooth phone unit the most and an entertainment unit the least. Don't listen to radio and have one or two tracks on repeat all the time. I do like tech though so would enjoy phone mirroring etc

Will keep an eye out for one of your threads on how well it does if you make one
