Spaceback TDI differance between 105 ps and 90 ps

Featured Replies

Hi, anybody know the physical difference between the 90ps engine and the 105ps version (apart from 15ps !) just wondering if it was just a different air intake tube eg its bigger ?  cheers - Stuart

I got a feeling it's just the mapping of the engine that's different ?

Might find you get smaller brake disks at the front too with the lower output car; certainly the case with the TSI and maybe slightly different gearbox ratios but the engine will more than likely be mapping (as post above) with such a small deference in output.

Only difference is the mapping, the 90 PS version being just a detuned 105 version. Everything else (brakes, gearbox ratios, air intake, intercooler etc) is probably identical.

Lowered power to save money on the braking system. They fit smaller discs on front and drums on back.

You are wrong! Same brakes as 105 (and discs in the back of course).

Detuned for fiscal reasons.
