Fabia Estate Rear Speakers

Featured Replies

Hello everyone.

Anyone changing the rear speakers on a Fabia estate, here's a word of warning.

The side trim the speaker screws on to is held in place with four clips and two visible screws. To get to the THIRD screw you need to remove the small courtesy light fitted to the side of the top trim, this saves minutes of head scratching and bad language!!. Unfortunately the speaker size means that you can't get a huge increase in quality if you want to stay in standard trim, but the separate tweeter (crap) can be easily disconnected at the main speaker site, also crap and only fit to be binned, and a pair of 2 way 6"x4" will fill the spot nicely.

On a similar thread, anyone found that a change of head unit requires an aerial attenuater fitted to get medium and long wave back ??

Happy fitting

Moved to ICE by me, oh and you get a free BTTT :D

Havent had problems with medium and longwave reception, but did have one or two probs beore getting the VAG adaptor.

Do the new speakers make much difference?

I had reception trouble when fitting the style whip I got - because I was using the short-ar5ed one all the time. Now I use the longest one which still looks good, but I get a clearer radio signal.

(I've also misplaced the shorter whip connecting bits, which means I'm stuck with the long one until I find it)

i cant seem to remove the aerial on my car can it be removed or am i not tugging hard enough any ideas anyone?

does this sound dodgy to you or have i got a dirty mind?

Changing the speakers has made a difference, before I found them very tinny and prone to distortion. The old ones were rated at 20w. whereas the new ones are a bit better at 120w, so you can crank it up a bit. The fronts sound not too bad, helped I suppose by the fact that they are a lot bigger. Bottom line, It's worth doing, just for the quality of sound.

which 6x4's did you go for - octavia estate owners have the same problem...

where from \ price?
