330mm Brakes under Octavia spiders?

Featured Replies

Just thinking ahead, whats the biggest disc and caliper folks have run whilst retaining a 17" wheel.

I know the 312's are a squeeze under the OE 16" Fabia vRS alloy, but has anyone run a 330mm disc - and matching 4 pot caliper on a 17" Spider rim?

I'm contemplating a bespoke AP racing 4 pot Kit with CP5200 calipers, but would really like to keep an OE type wheel, as apposed to a Compomotive or Team Dynamics one, where I know caliper clearance will be better of course.

Not a massive fan of running spacers either on a car that's going to be track day'd hard.

Its the offset/width thats the issue.  17" rims clear my D2 330mm brakes fine but you may need spacers of around 10mm for comfortable caliper clearance, depending on the wheel used.

I use OZ superleggera, TD pro race 3 and Audi TT comps and all have about 5mm or so of caliper clearance, with no spacers fitted.

Wasn't there a bloke on here who was sorting out a Wilwood brake kit to fit on 312mm discs?

I know the 323mm discs on the Brembos fit and there's still some clearance.

Cheers guys, the easy option would be the aftermarket wheel, just like to keep things looking OE.

Dan - I assume the 323mm discs and brembo caliper is Leon Cupra standard stuff? They fit behind Spiders?

Redcupraboy (lee) has some awesome tarox brakes. Unsure on disc size but I think he runs a 5mm spacer. I nearly went through windscreen when he put the brakes on lol

iv fitted leon cupra r 323mm with 4 pot brembos and 5mm spacers behind spider alloys

I'm running Tarox six pot calipers with Tarox f2000 discs 323mm with my 17" spiders and not running any spacers :)

The issue with the Leon Cupra calipers is that they aren't radial mounted, we have just completed a kit at work to fit them under a 17" wheel for the R56 Mini combined with a 330mm disc and the smallest spacer we could get was a 5mm one whivh has been produced into the disc bell with a built in spigot to suit the bore size of the original wheel size.

The problem with the Brembo calipers is they are bulbous and require a spacer behing most rims, including stock ones.

Other kits have slimline calipers which fit better.

I have personally used PB and there is plenty of space behind stock 17" rims.

330mm with six pot.

I'm sure I've got pricing from PB for a Fabia somewhere saying that :)

Good thing about Dan at PB is that he will send you a template that you can match up to the back of your rim to check what fits before buying.

Yes! He was who I dealt with on FB when pricing up the Fabia I was very impressed! I've also got links for rear brakes and coil overs from him :)
