Hello - new member with my first VRs

Featured Replies

Hello everyone,

Although I have been a member on here for about 8 years (it seems) I've only just started really using the forum due to buying my first Skoda.  I picked up a 56 plate Octavia VRs estate on Friday evening after a fairly long search.  Really chuffed with it and very grateful for the advice that I have found on here through searching the forums.  Thought it was about time I actually came and said hello.

So...

hello.

Hi mate, post some pics of your new vrs, most here would love to see!

Welcome aboard the good ship VRS - I bought my first one in January and am loving it

As you are already aware, this forum is friendly and extremely helpful.

Post some pics so we can see what you have bought. :sun:

Just washed mine and it started to rain - typical!

Now then chaps, I'm hoping to get a couple of decent pics of the car sometime this week if the weather is decent enough.  Maybe Wednesday as I'll not be at work.

I also need to apologise for the unforgivable error of typing VRs when it clearly should be vRS.  Please accept my sincerest apologies, it won't happen again.

Firstly, welcome and enjoy the car, I'm loving mine.

I'm sure people will let you off as it's you're first time!! :D

Welcome to the forum....nice choice of car,is it the lovely petrol version? or the one with a tractor engine?  :giggle:

It's a petrol.  So happy to be back in something revvy after 4 years in a diesel.

Very nice, with maxidot and 18in wheels too, bonus!

Yup, pretty chuffed really.  Only thing it's not got that I'd like is cruise control but I've seen that you can retrofit for not too much cash.  My wife is sad that it's not got heated seats though.

Retro fit cruise cheap and easy to do!

A Bolero is a massive improvement on the Stream although a Columbus would be even better!

I've got a nice Alpine head unit to fit actually.  SIngle DIN but it controls, charges and runs my iphone perfectly.  Won't look quite so factory but it's not too bad looking and the extra shelf underneath (as part of the DIN adapter) will be handy for popping the phone in

Perfect!

I won't lose any functionality by not having the factory unit in though will I?  Seen some mention of this on the forum but not sure what I might or might not lose.

I think you will lose the climatronic pop ups that appear temporarily when you change the settings and reverse sensor info if you have reverse sensors. Nothing else to my knowledge.

Ah, good, I haven't got the reverse sensors and can live with no pop-ups so that's cool.  Cheers.

Nice. I do miss that engine.
