Turbo failure on EA888 Generation 3 engine

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

Anyone know something about 21E7 campaign? You can find some infos in the attachment.

Here are the turbo part numbers that fail from the factory on unmodified cars:

06K 145 702 K - Revision 1
06K 145 702 Q - Revision 2
06K 145 702 R - Revision 3

New turbo part number to fix failures:

06K 145 702 T - Revision 4

My Octavia vRS has got "R" version. It's made Feb 2014...

There are several US forum threads about this, and the consensus seems to be that failures affect very few cars. Also, the majority of failures occur very early in life. If your turbo has done several thousand miles it will likely last the life of the car. There are hardly any reports of "R" revision faults so I wouldn't worry about it.

There is a thread already running on this issue. Nobody on here has reported a failure, as far as I know.

I hope it will be right guys. BTW that would be the second warranty repair on my vRS. (First was the electrical waterpump/thermostat unit)

I think that the engines of  octavia 3 VRS  the turbo one does not have which presents these failures. On engines 220 and 230 ch it would not be the same turbo one as on the engines of 265ch and more.

Very early (Oct 2013) Octavia VRS Tsi Estate with 17,000 on clock back to garage for replacement turbo and ancilliaries. No specifics from Skoda Belfast just yet. Hopefully have car back at the weekend and will post info on warranty repair required. Car was struggling at idle, cutting out on "autostop" at junctions and generally chuggy below 2000RPM. Was driving fine once got going.
