08 Roomster 3 boot unlock switch

Featured Replies

We have just bought a 08 Roomster 3, all seems fine but the boot switch located on the driver’s door doesn’t seem to be doing anything other than light up red when the driver’s door is opened. I assuming this is when the button is in the “Switch off the interior monitor” mode (I’ve not tested that this works).

Is this a known fault (I couldn’t find anything in a search) or am I doing something daft? :D

Hi Chris and welcome to Briskoda.

The switch on the door serves only to disable the interior alarm sensors.  This enables you to leave your children in your locked car (for example while you pay for petrol) without your children setting off the alarm.

The boot switch is on the key fob.  Enjoy your Roomster.

Thanks for the welcome

The cars manual suggests that the switch also functions as a boot unlock switch?

Opening the boot lid
– On vehicles with central locking unlock the boot lid by pressing the button on the
driver door  fig. 28

Mine's an 09 Scout and I've just had a rummage through the Owner's Manual.

In the section titled "Unlocking and Locking" my manual also seems to imply the switch has two functions.

However, in the section titled "Cockpit" and under the heading "Using the System", there is an illustration of equipment in the cockpit.  In my manual, the door switch is shown Number 18.  The legend describes this switch thus:

18. Switch depending on equipment fitted:

- Unlocking the boot lid*

- Interior monitor*

My interpretation is:

If the car has an alarm fitted, the switch is used to disable the interior monitors.

If the car has no alarm fitted, the switch is used instead to open the boot lid.

It is fair to say Skoda Owner's Manuals are not the best-written!

Ok thanks, that does make sense reading the manual again. It was the sort of the answer that I was hoping for!
