Auto levelling factory fitted HIDs.

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

Is it possible to adjust my headlight beam in any way? I have the factory fitted HIDs with the ' auto levelling ' however the other night I noticed that my drivers side beam was to low.

The adjusters do work. Do I need to find a friend with VCDS or can a garage help me out even though they are auto adjusters.

Car is a 07 Octy VRS.

Thanks!

From what I'm told friend/dealers with VCDS and a "reset" of the system is all that you can do.

I have auto levelling xenons on my FL. As ususal, the car does a be check on start up. But I still have adjuster screws onto of the headlight so I can turn them up a bit.

Park infront of a white wall, or garage door at night and using an Allen key (sorry don't know size) just wind the screw up or down ontop of the headlight.... Should sort it I'd have thought?

Mike

You'll need to put them in learning mode with vcds before you adjust them.

Didn't know that? I was only guessing as my xenons also have adjuster screws like on normal headlights.

Yep, if you don't put them in "learning mode" they'll just re-adjust themselves back to where they were.

Do garages have access to VCDS at all?

It's just I'm very OCD with my car and I'll what the lights adjusted correctly via the machine.

But thank you so much for your answers so far.

A dealer will has VAS, the official VAG tool, not VCDS. An independent could have VCDS or a different system from a number of manufacturers. My mates garage has an all singing Bosch (I think) system.
