Eibachs

Featured Replies

OK, so I have known for a good while now that I will be booted out of my current job at the end of this month... which hasn't bothered me too much as it's a dead-end position anyway

BUT I have just recently lined myself up with my next job, which will involve me commuting into London every day on the tube and not driving to work in the Furby - which gives me the green flag to lower it and make it less fuel efficient! :D

First things first - not going for the lowrider look, don't want to lose drivability over speedbumps and the like as there are quite a lot round my way, so Eibachs it is I think. Should I go with the springs on their own, or is it worth shelling out for the dampers and getting them all done at the same time? Shorter bump stops will be needed either way, has anyone here bothered with the proper poly bushes yet?

I suppose next I'll have to decide on bigger rims or FMIC, decisions decisions

PS change of job also leaves me with no time to work on my Scimitar :(

Anybody want to buy it??? :)

I shortened the original bump stops on mine.

I would go with the full setup if you can stretch to it.

FMIC ;) no bias or anything (hehehehee) but:

1. It will sort out heatsoak and prepare ;) you for a remap of some sort

2. The GB is at the lowest price it's ever going to get, and there is only 1 spot left :D

I shortened the original bump stops on mine.

Just out of interest, what are the implications of shortening the bump stops if you want to return the car to standard before selling on?

Oh, and I'd agree - go with springs and matching dampers :D

Fair enough, might as well get the whole set, I think I'm right in saying the springs are guaranteed for 10 years and the shocks for a million miles so it's unlikely I'd ever need to buy a new set anyway! Anybody here know how mod friendly tesco insurance is?

I could be wrong but I think those type of insurers are just linked into directline insurance or one of the other big ones. I am with Admiral, best price for me but they won't insure a car with a strut brace or an FMIC so i'm moving over to Greenlight.

Let us know what Tesco say it will be interesting, oh and good luck. ;)

Tesco are pretty mod friendly and the springs count as a cosmetic mod :D Ummm - I doubt the shocks would last a million miles. Mine we getting worn after about 20k on the car so you may need to replace them every 40k. No idea on the life of the springs though.......

I bought new Chris. I actually bought replacement everything to rebuild the struts so I effectively have two sets of front struts complete.

Tesco Car Insurance is underwritten by UK Insurance Limited

Surely if the shocks wear out i.e. fail the MOT, eibach have to replace them? Assuming you had them fitted at a proper garage and your car hasn't covered a million miles?!?!?!

Ummm - shocks wear out .... where do Eibach say how many miles they expect them to last for?!?!! As long as there is no manufacturing fault, then why should they replace them? 40k isn't so bad, the Leda aftermarket suspension kits for the Scooby needed rebuilding every 10k

Chris

I think you'll find that the Eibachshop is not connected directly to Eibach. It's a third party company.
